The intake is dry. The part in the picture that connects the intake to the plenum has the oil catch which is the part you snap off and put back on during install. When I was cleaning and moving it, the oil leaked out. I let it all leak out and cleaned it thoroughly before reinstalling it. Just thought it was something worth talking about as I had no clue about it before.
FYI, my 15 Z had oiling issues as you have. The track setup called for a 1/2 qt overfill on track, but seems that screwed things up and had it burping from the oil reservoir into the PVC system. notice the little catch reservoir on that intake duct? I never had issues with overheating the oil, so much as overheating the coolant on the 15. Now my 17 Z is better on coolant (not fixed) and seems worse on oil temps. 300* within 3-4 hard laps on a 2.75 mile course w a 150mph straight. I believe the oil level has to be the reasoning behind that oiling you see.
Overall the 17s has been pretty solid... Had one or two reports of a fault with the filter, compared to one or two reports of a fault with the stock filter, always at very high speeds like 160mph. The filter is less likely to throw a fault than an intake system on the 17s from what I've seen so go for it.
Hi Terry,
Are there any HP or TQ gains or any issues using your BMS air filter on a base model totally stock 2016 Stingray?
Have you put a totally stock base Stingray on your dyno and done a baseline and the on the dyno with your BMS air filter?
And is there only one BMS air filter for all C7 models? Is the BMS air filter the same filter for a Stingray the same filter for the Z06, Grand Sport, and Z51?

HPJ....I can tell you the filter works great in the LT1.I have it in my '17 Z51,M7.I was one of the original testers and I've got over 1500 miles on the filter. No codes and it does pull better.
It's VERY high quality and you should be pleased with it.

Can anyone point me to an intake that can work with the BMS filter? I honestly just want more induction sound as long as the performance doesn't decrease. Was there a other big BMS thread that I could read?
Ordered mine. Fast processing and shipping. The car is stock except for new wheels and MGW shifter. Definitely worth the money.
I was a bit taken back while installing. I noticed oil on the floor and on my shorts. I realize this is designed like this but I would have never known if I did not install the filter. Seems like quite a bit in there and if it ever fills up too much it could become a problem. How often should this be removed and cleaned?
That is not a good sign! Should be no oil. My 2014 had that issue the first time the airbox came out. I would NOT mod that car and head back to the dealer.
Decided to order the BMS filter for the 2017. Sounds like a great mod
The 2017 might only get this one mod as I'm not worried about how fast it is. I do know a 2017 A8 with this filter should be plenty fast since stock A8's have been mid tens!

I think you'll like it. We've had quite a few customers tell us they removed their AFE intake, swapped in our drop in, and noticed no performance loss at all. It's something when a $90 part that looks OEM can provide you with the same benefits of something that normally costs 4x more.
Got mine delivered in 2 days. Thanks Terry. Gonna switch it out once it warms up a lil bit here. I'll log a few miles with the stocker before I switch and report back with the seat of the pants results.
I run of lot of road course track days and my car is a stock 16 Z07 with the GM hundred octane tune, I will report my findings at the track later in the year when the season begins in the Chicago area

Installed this filter yesterday....just from the couple drives so far it feels different....better....smoother.....also I think I hear the whine of the supercharger a little more!!!
Is there a noticeable sound improvement with this drop in filter?
Not that I can tell, but being a mechanic through hs, racing anything with a motor, guns & scuba diving may have caused some hearing loss. Regardless the performance gain is there and Terry is a first rate vendor.
Ordered Monday and received Wednesday in Florida. Great turnaround. Should have it in by the weekend and if I can get a few moments to take her for a spin between monsoons I'll post impressions.
