Its happened rather randomly. Once as stated above with the drivers side door open for more than 90 seconds, and once just for the hell of it. No connection so far with the HTC top opening or closing.
To all the electrical issues. GM at one time made all of their wire in Warren Ohio, Packard Electric Division, changed name to Delphi, another name change to APTIV in plant 10. When I started in plant 10 in JAN of 2007 we were making wire 24/7. Today they purchase core, copper is drawn down to the correct size and number of strands, then twisted or bunched as we called it. They do very little today as of this writing. The terminals for the connectors are made next store in plant 11. I would say the USA made ones are pretty good, but some come from China and Mexico and the harnesses are assembled in Mexico and China. I guess the cheaper wire harness is worth the grief if it only happens once in a while. When plant 10 was on full blast, way back, it was said they made enough wire to circle the earth every 24 hours.
And while on a rant, how does Mary Barra tolerate having the plant that sells every car it builds being down for parts? If all the parts were brought back to the USA and the price was raised by $5K or $7K, this ain't going to stop those that want one.
To all the ... issues. ....at one time made all of their ... I would say the USA made ones are pretty good, but some come from China and Mexico ....If all the parts were brought back to the USA and the price was raised by $x
or $xx, this .......
Will make American Manufacturing Great .....
This is not unique to GM, the entire Walmartization of the planet has dumbed down consumers to expect noting anymore. There are still some of us that respect quality and ... But it is impossible to find at any cost anymore - until the public finally wises up and demands it. Even with the C8's fortunately rare problems, it is striving toward that goal, but even it has a ways to go. But at least it is not a Yugo.
New C8 with front lift. After two weeks, when activated the pump roars and vibrates. GM changed vendors for this part and they say “ they all do it”. Terrible design on a car of this caliber. It should not have a defect like that. It’s unacceptable!!! My 2022 and 2021 did not make that noise. And as mentioned, this vehicle started doing it after two weeks! Not happy!
The dealership says they all do it? Now that's a statement that's easy to disprove, right here in this forum.
When I had my 2001 C5, the rear smog pump check valve would fail and throw a code every two years or so. You'd think that GM would upgrade the valve to withstand the heat in that location, but not a chance. Every two years cost me $250. That was just one of many issues that caused me grief. Quality and GM don't seem to go together. And no, these types of issues are not common to every sportscar.

The more doodads on it, the more headaches, at least that has been my experience.

Was driving today and had my first check engine light, ran codes came up with p0700, and p9176 ironically. but the obd scanner would not tell me what they mean.
any help? i have had nothing but a good time in the car for the last 66k miles and i noticed after driving the car in 20 degree weather all day it popped up with these two codes.

Yes, sadly, this is very common with not only many US-built vehicles but also with German as well.
The Lexus LC500 does have quite a few electronic gadgets but I have not seen many (if any at all) issues in the Lexus forum in which I am a moderator. My wife has had an RX400h for over 17 years and not once was there any failure.

to learn there is a Lexus forum that has existed for 17 years with “if any at all” issues to discuss. Why oh why would such a forum bother to exist (or need moderation)?
ah, as far as random one off (non) data points, my wife has had (and still has and still drives) a 2001 C5, and not once has there been any failure. Let’s see, that seems like 21 years. But then again it doesn’t have so many do dads or gadgets. Yawn.

Reason: more data

I doubt the forum existed for 17 years but the first luxury hybrid SUV (RX400h) did. Most of the issues I see are those from Lexus vehicles that are more than 20 years old.

One is a transmission fault code (P0700) and the other is a problem with the fuel gauge circuit ((P9176). With 66k miles I hope you have an extended warranty or you could end up with a big $$ hit.
On a side note, for other C8 owners, if you're planning on keeping your C8 past the BTB warranty period/miles you might consider purchasing GM's Protection Plan. Things could get real expensive
Navy pays attention to detail - Look at his "Name" LOL
Update: Just noticed someone already said the same - before me.
Amazing DD, 50-85K seems normal for 1st problem with any car.
2% - Where is your data?
2021 HTC
Front Lift
Leaking Transmission
Lifting dash leather
2% My ****.
Doesn't matter if it's 2% or 5%. The overwhelming majority of C8 owners are happy with their cars. Where's your data showing otherwise?
It happens with every generation of Corvettes. The sky is always falling for one reason or another even when the vast majority of owners have little to no issues. Heck, in the C7 section there is an entire sticky thread for A8 transmission failures with over 1700 replies. If you are so unhappy with yours, as you seem to be, sell it already and move on.

But the DCT issues are definitely making me uneasy about my order. Especially since they are continuing to happen into 2023. I wouldn't care about minor issues with a car but powertrain issues that can leave you stranded are not something I want to have at the back of my mind when I go out for a drive to enjoy my sports car.
