Has anyone head of this happening before?
Do a search, there have been several issues with new DCT. Generally speaking forums do not show the true extent of an issue because a very small percentage of owners are on a forum such as this. Therefore it, impossible to know how many have been affected.

I will be interested to see the JD Power and CR stats on the C8. I realize this forum is not a scientific sample of owners but it does appear the C8 does have some serious issues that are appearing in a number of cars. Engine and tranny issues, are in my opinion, pretty serious ones.

Ill bet GM knows exactly how many. What are your numbers?

Software or mechanical issues, don't consider bad code as a major issue. Just my opinion. Love to hear your numbers....

Definitely not good and makes one wonder how many issues will there be once these DCT transmissions get some miles on them.

Yep, with all these problems makes good sense. Wonder how long extended warranty they would give and price?

The car is not an automatic with a torque converter it is a dual clutch manual transmission the Computer controls engaging and disengaging on both clutches so sounds like it may have a issue not disengaging clutches. We have not had any issues with ours but it is a little different sensation that a torque converter when the car starts to move, hopefully warranty will cover it.

Dows anyone have actual numbers on transmission issues by type meaning mechanical, or software?

That sounds very worth it. Is there a mileage limitation that goes with your 5 year extended warrantee?

Extra five years was for another 37,500 miles after Chevrolet’s warranty runs out in three years.
I normally don’t buy extended warranty but because this car was a new design we decided to go ahead and do it

My extended warranty was 84 months or 56k miles. I bought it when I paid for my used C7 at the dealer. $2,000 sound right, never had to use it. Sold the car I will be getting extended coverage on my C8. Peace of mind is a good thing.

UAW production workers take no pride in workmanship and there is very little real Quality Control on this car - or it would not be having the thousands of problems it is having. GM is no way to run such an old and established car manufacturer-PATHETIC

Transmission and drivetrain issues were a major factor in my decision to trade my C7 just before the warranty expired. With what is being reported with the C8, I am happy I didn't jump on the bandwagon early.

Porsche skated away from its problem with IMS bearings. It reimbursed owners who had paid out for repairs; But: anyone who had not yet paid 2500 + for repair, or for an entire new engine at 20,000 +, were left out in the cold, to suffer their loss of value in silence.

I don't believe GMC will have the same luck if there are recurrent problems, even if spread widely over electronics, transmissions, valves, etc, etc. GMC has heard of "bad press", as well as class action suits. Forums like this enable broad dissemination of info, and easy assembly and identification of owners with problems.
