C8 problems
The dealership called me back and told me that a "quick disconnect" coupling on the water pump failed and no longer will hold coolant. They are ordering a new pump and connect.
I asked if the new connect will fail just like the last - they didn't have an answer to that.
Some more info on the incident:
Interesting that there was no indicator on the dash of low coolant. First indication I had of a problem was the sound of the engine fans going nuts full bore and the rising oil and coolant temp.
At first the car instructed me to idle the engine (I had already pulled over at this time). I did so but the temp kept rising. So I turned the motor off but left accessories running so I could watch dash. The fans kept running and the temps kept rising (no idea how much coolant I had left in the car at this time. Oil temp kept rising too.
Eventually both hit the max side of the gauges. I think I saw oil temp at 297 degrees. Eventually the right side info panel popped up a message saying my oil was now at 0% and needed to be replaced. (Note - it wasn't low or empty).
I told the tech that and directed them to change the oil.
I also asked them the power wash the bay and belly pans of all coolant so I'm not smelling coolant baking for the rest of my ownership (car has 512 miles).
The service manager told me that in order to replace the pump they need to drop the engine so they will be able to clean the inside. We'll see how well they do that.
I just hope nothing warped or coked internally during this heat episode. We will see.

Really trying not to dwell on what possible block/head/ring/etc damage or heat warping may have occurred.
My plan is to get it back from the dealer and run it like a scalded ape. If it's going to present problems I want them showing up right away.

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Hey! I just joined because I need help with my dads c8 corvette.
the car wont open the rear trunk. I've tried with the car key, and from the inside buttom, but the trunk wont open and the lights flashes like the usually do.
the front trunk/ frunk do work perfectly.
I dont know what to do. the only way I able to open the trunk is by taking of the license plate off and using the physical car key to open the trunk manually.
does any of you know what might be happening with the car?
Help, please!
when I press the rear trunk button the lights of the car flashes, but it does not open, and we have used the car regularly, but everything happen right after we washed the car about 2 days ago.
yes, thats how we have been doing it to open it. we take the licenses plate off to open the rear trunk, but we want to be able to open the trunk the way it is suppose to work.
To keep it short, not good news..... My car is now in the service department for a full transmission replacement. My odd/even gear issue reappeared and GM immediately decided to swap the transmission and to send back my transmission for forensic work. Apparently they have identified a failure with something inside the transmission preventing the odd gears to engage and only keep changing bt even gears. For additional details on my issue you can see my earlier posts. While I am not happy about having to go thru this, I commend GM for the decision to replace the transmission and to send it back to fully understand this issue to prevent a potential painful recall situation in the future. I wish GM technical support contact me directly for a dialog on my situation and for ways they can compensate me for this very unfortunate situation.
I will keep posting as get more updates. omeprazole Magnesium
