paint blem on the rear trunk drivers side below the window like previously reported on other cars Ncm
detailer gave it a quick rub but it did not disappear. Looks to be in the paint
passenger carpet trim panel, looks like someone pried it open.
I got the rear axle system off error but it has not reappeared lately.
also when you guys accelerate from a stop like using launch control do you hear a clunk as it shifts? My first thought are my lug nuts loose? Really noticeable with the windows down. Does not sound like a shift actuation. Stitching is okay but not awesome. Has some wave on the front part, but not as bad as I have seen
Wife and I took delivery on Friday. We drove the car for a short drive then parked it in the garage with a total of 72 miles. That's correct....72 miles in total.
On Saturday morning (9/12/2020) I went to start the vehicle and left it idle for around 5 to 10 minutes. It was at this time the engine began to bog down with an erratic idle... like the car wanted to stall. I put the car in reverse to see if it was just a rough idle and that is when several indicators became apparent including a check engine, check transmission and check emissions alerts were sent.
I immediately called the dealer and they sent a flatbed.
Seems like GM is adamant that the tranny doesn't need the extra two quarts of fluid. But I'm also seeing a lot of people who are paying to add the two extra quarts. In one case someone had tranny problems and the dealership fixed the error codes by adding the additional fluid. I've also heard a lot of comments that the trannys are not being filled correctly from the factory. If this is true wouldn't the addition of two extra quarts of fluid be money in the bank for GM? If not the extra two quarts won't hurt anything. Kinda of like chicken soup.
My driver's side door hangs a little down...it looks like if there was a little adjustment in the latch mechanism it could be fixed, but they look fixed. The only gripe I have about the car.
It all started with "Service Keyless Start System" with 7 miles on the odometer, right after delivery and drove off the dealer. Car started and drove fine, but the keyless unlock via door handle did not work -- could still unlock by key fob. Dealer tech took two days for diagnostic, they first found short-circuit of connector, harness and antenna in the frunk to be the issue. Parts ordered, taking three weeks. Dropped off for repair on this Monday, at first it was going to be a three-hour job, nope! According to phone conversation -- it went on to repairing the wiring harness, GM engineers got called, they wanted other frunk wiring harness needed inspection and repair, then the whole frunk wiring needed hard-wiring to clear the code, and now they needed software from GM for the entire car. It's been four days and counting just for what was an "antenna"
Went to another dealer to spy on my friend's car, they told me another C8 last month loaded off the trailer refused to start, the body control module in the rear went.
Electronic gremlins galore and the happiness and joy of C8 finally wore off today after happy 1590 miles and one month of ownership. Waited one year for all this mess... I hope I'm not going to be the first lemon C8 since they already took two of four shots.
Now that we are back up to full steam and many people are taking delivery I thought I would post the updated checklist. The Excel is in a printable format for landscape orientation.
I could have missed a couple, but I think I have captured the lions share of reported problems that I've seen.
Car is finally fully functional 21 calendar days after initial delivery that lasted an hour. Electrical issues included a Cadillac splash screen and then the computer forgetting all settings and entering demo mode, GPS never getting a location, and numerous CELs.
Root cause was traced to: "terminal 13 circuit 4984 in connector x201 was installed at an angle due to a bent connector body. Removed and replaced female side of connector and replaced circuit 4984 due to not having good pin tension"

jackfrostpdx,
Glad they found your "needle in a haystack"! Now to find out who mashed connector in. Maybe your C8 was built on a Friday and "Bender" the GM Robot had plans for the weekend!
Now you finally get to break in the C8...Enjoy the Ride!

Item 52 - I would count mime at 7 miles (day-of-delivery mileage) when it happened - I just took my car in at 1500 miles when they finally received parts, but things escalated quick! But surely there are other electrical issues in other cars as I learned from another dealer today.
If you buy a car for delivery FOB the factory, do they have people following you out of town to assist if it lays an egg..( leaves a s**t ) within a few miles ? If it dies, to where do you haul it in...the factory ? A nearby dealer ?

LOL... no... once you leave the NCM it's a sold car. They'll direct you to Campbell Chevy for assistance. We spent an extra day in BG putting miles on the car for this exact reason before our 1,200 mile trip home through the mountains via Tail of the Dragon.

@MaxV UPDATE ITEM #52: Car was finally fixed. Based on their investigation, somewhere along the production when harness, connector and antenna came together -- the two connector pins got crimped and touched, shorting the antenna, and the frunk lamp and frunk ejector button panel. Master tech wanted to pigtail the connector in, but GM engineers wanted to hard-wire the as repair -- there's no space inside the frunk liner, so they settled on pigtail. Four items were replaced: antenna, wiring harness, connector, and frunk lamp/ejector button panel. Total repair and consultation time: four days. The magic of locking the car by just walking away will not get old!
I don’t know if this is possible or if there is a not too difficult way to do this, but a reported issue “tracker” of sorts as the first post that gets updated would probably be very helpful to owners.
Reading through currently 25 pages & only going up to learn about owner issues or try to find a similar issue to one you’re experiencing can be very tedious. Just a thought.
Sorry to hear about all these problems for long awaiting owners due to total lack of quality control by GM. UAW workers have shown over decades they do not care about the company that employs them, and that they have NO pride in their work - GM needs to look into going to an almost totally robotic assembly line. Robots and computers in todays automotive world do a much better and more precise job, are faster, do not strike, do not catch COVID or need social distancing. This rollout of the C8 has been a total disaster. Of the seven corvettes I have owned, I always waited a few years, never buying the first year because of all the problems and bugs they have to sort out. I am scheduled for a 2021, but after hearing of all these never ending problems, I am beginning to regret selling my 2018 Z06 3 LT that did not give me one problem.

Consumers buy cars, and they should be able to count on the quality of the product they buy, especially from one the the giants and pioneers in the auto industry. Pretty sad that GM cannot produce cars in this day and age with the fit and finish, reliability, and reliability of German and Japanese cars. I have been buying new Corvettes since 1965, and have had every generation except for the C1, but they have never had the quality, fit or finish they could have had, from one of the largest car companies in the world.
I'm waiting until the problems are solved before buying too. I'm a retired mechanical engineer that worked for Fanuc Robotics, a company that supplies robots to the car manufacturing industry, the points you stated are some of the selling points used by robot mfg's.
Glad to hear from someone who actually knows the capabilities of 21st century technology. Tesla being a good example of what GM could do. The UAW has been extorting their employers and putting out inferior products for decades-allowing the Germans, Japanese and even Koreans to surpass the American big 3 in just about all areas of fit and finish, paint, interior materials, reliability etc. GM has the capability to put out really fine cars, but are ham-stringed by the huge costs of unskilled UAW labor, strikes and all their collateral contingent costs. I am hoping GM will address all the production and quality control problems of the 2020- If they do not I am gong to cancel my 2021. I actually wrote to GM Chairman Mary Barra about the horrendous and incompetent rollout of the C-8 -and got a reply. She admitted that they started way too late in 2019 with the C-8, and did so in a UAW contract expiration year-knowing the UAW would probably strike them to get what they wanted - because of the highly anticipated C8. She said they are working on all the known problems, and lack of production quotas due to COVID and UAW requirements and demands. I certainly hope so because they had plenty of time with todays technologies to iron out all these problems. I am just afraid with them being so far behind in production- the line workers will hurry to catch up, cut corners - and put out really inferior products. You do not see these issues with Lexus or Porsche.
