38 miles total on vehicle
still at dealership transmission skips from 1-3-5 been at the dealership since July 28 I drove it home and it was skipping all the way home. I did not realize what it was doing till about 3 miles up the road. 24 days later it is still not fixed and GM is not helping.
Very disturbing....
Show your "disturbance" by invoking the Lemon buy back law. 30 days and it's GM's car and you get all your money back.. Simple concept. If this is a sign of things to come is the C8 really worth the hassle? It sure as hell wouldn't be for me! Looks like it costs $50 for the arbitration and if you win, which I'm sure you will if it's been sitting in the shop for 30 days plus.
My guess is that it's going to be a lot longer than 30 days since GM swaps out trannies. Maybe GM will fly out a tranny, but I'd kind of doubt it.
PS: Before taking the arbitration route I'd file a complaint with the BBB after 30 days and let the dealership know that a BBB complaint has been filed. My guess is that the dealership will have the talk with GM and you'll get your money back at that time. The dealership and GM don't want the bother of sitting in arbitration.
The first time, all they told me was several codes were being indicated. After 3 days in the shop I picked it up and then the check engine light came on again. This time it indicated the transmission. Picked it up after a week and they told me the front lift wasn’t communicating with the car. So they updated software. This last time they said nothing was being indicated.
First issue has arisen with my C8. It's VIN0049 built on February 3rd and my air conditioning has quit. Nothing but warm air on the warmest day of the year!
Sucks.
I feel for you. I had the first C5 delivered in Northern CA. Had a recall the 2nd day that the car was "too dangerous to drive" due to an axle problem. When I got it back I took a car vacation from the Bay Area to Palm Springs. It was 115 in Palm Springs when the air went out..... Had to drive home at night as it was too hot otherwise....
On the positive side I had zero issues with the C7 which I received 4 months into production. My C8 is in transit so my fingers are crossed.
Brought my c8 into dealer yesterday to install the brake cooling ducts since they weren't installed by the original dealer before delivery. They did the update for recall. The car is no bricked basically. The car won't start. It's stuck I'm the bay. They have gotten all the "top" engineers involved and no one seems to know what's wrong. It's now a 100k dollar paper weight. Extremely frustrating. I didn't even want the update done. I'm being told they already changed the update bc it messed up a lot of the cars. But apparently those cars were able to be fixed. Not so much for mine. Smh.
My car is currently at the dealer also. Dead in my garage mid last week. It had some power but lost all power when I tried to start it. Had to use the pull handle to get out. Called Chevy roadside assistance and they sent out help to get it started. The car was jumped and I drove it to the dealer. I was getting messages about my security system and non essential systems shut down to save the battery. They have been in contact with Chevy and haven’t figured out what caused the battery to drain. I’ll update when I hear more. They are also installing my ducts that were not completed during PDI and installing the frunk recall update. It didn’t take OTA.
Car was great on the drive home but electrical problems started with the very next start one hour later.
Issues include booting up in "Cadillac mode" with no settings retained, demo mode which required me to change the car back into a purchased vehicle, and total loss of nav radio.
Dealer was initially unable to reproduce (self-healing car?!) but later reported seeing some of the same problems.
The car is sitting in a bay while GM techs get back to them and tell them what to do. It's going on 6 days.
It may be GMC is rushing production, trying to meet production goals, and has decided to hell with quality for now. Quality...recalls...shop time, etc.... can be addressed later, but missed production quantities cannot.

Looks like being an "early adopter" is way more fun than I could stand.....
Have you ever had a car that did not have a problem large or small.?
Yes...but they were all Japanese brands—Honda, Nissan, Lexus, and Infiniti. Not one single problem with any of them. I can’t speak as highly about my German, British, and American car experiences and not sure that I’ll ever be brave enough to pull the trigger on the much desired Italian brands.
Reported problems aside, still very much looking forward to my C8...in the hopefully better sorted out 2021 model year.
It's hard for me to understand how this car got through quality control without this problem being caught. It makes me wonder what else they are allowing to slip through. Once more GM has allowed the early adapters to become final beta testers.

I've owned at least 12 different Toyotas over the last 20 years and have NEVER had a problem with any of them. Oil change and tire rotations were as complicated as things ever got!
