Bullshit is pretty much what this forum is all about.

I visit about every other month for just a few minutes...uninformed and rude seems to be the norm.

Yep, I'm also going to wait until GM can do the C8 without all the issues. Hopefully by then I won't have lost my enthusiasm for the car??

Last time i checked, NO ONE forced any one to check or read here. I'm not a Porsche fan (nothing against them btw), but I don't join their forum and bad mouth.

For all the whiny types that are waiting for a perfect car, good luck finding it. Waiting and not owning is just sitting on the bench and watching the parade go by instead of being in it. I smile very single time I get in my C8 and it's the best car I have ever owned in 45 years of car ownership. I hope all this fear can keep you smiling while rest of us enjoy our cars.

As someone who has had more problems with his C8 than almost anyone, now that it is sorted it out I heartily endorse this point of view.

Right, but honestly, you shouldn’t be having these issues with an $80k car let alone a $30k car. I understand on an enthusiast forum there will always be those who blindly defend these kinds of things, but you guys really should demand better. There is nothing wrong with expecting your modern car to be nearly perfect. Other manufacturers come a lot closer - especially on their halo product.

I get that people are excited about the bang for the buck. And god knows we all want an American super car. But GM really needs to sweat the details better on something so hugely important.

The car is being built in a pandemic. Suppliers are struggling to keep up production and some have let quality suffer in a few areas.

While not an excuse I believe it is true. My guess is GM is pushing it's suppliers hard to keep production going. Schedule pressure is often a a contributing factor in quality escapes. The alternative is to slow production to a rate that the suppliers feel comfortable with.

I was a "Covid is the Reason" doubter until too many times I have had first hand contact with manufacturers and they are NOT able to produce their entire product line. For many Covid Related reasons, their are unable to keep their entire product line in stock and have to decide what to produce and what to put off until.... Some (many?) will have to accept that this is the new normal until .... It sucks, but we need to move on and adapt. There is no other option - currently. I do not see the light at the end of the tunnel yet and I am a half full type, but realistic too.

Default 63 miles and down

Picked up my C8 convertible, sat . Waited almost a year for the beasty. Drove home great, easy cruise 45 to 63 mph. Parked and pulled out the manuals to start going over. Restarted, engine light, traction light, engine was rough. Shut it down, trailered back to dealer. 63 miles and busted valve spring. Im still in shock. Bad batch of springs, not treated properly--dont know. Waiting for info and new springs. Car did run very well those first few miles. \\

Maybe the spring busted while cooling down? Thermal or tensile issue, not enough data reported yet.

Bad, but fixable....what is yourVIN, trying to get a handle on range of the problem.

Is there any significant differences between the 6.2 L they are now using in the C8 and the last 6.2 used in the C7 ?

Totally new block (closed valley), new dry sump with 3 pumps, new cam, new intake manifold and factory headers.

  • As someone that has none of these problems so far and won't, I love my Game Changer, but I can "feel" you pain.
  • As someone that has an RV and new (3 years) to that arena, None of you know (unless you have walked in those shoes driven those wheels) just how bad it can be! I hate to keep shouting from the Mountain Top, but I feel obligated because I wish someone else did before I purchased one. GM could be 100 times worse than all seem to think it is and it wouldn't even touch the levels of unprofessionalism and CRAP that "industry" attempts to pawn off as a product meant for a consumer. Even YUGOs were better - think hard about that one. It is not an exaggeration. It is my first and last ever.

RVs are the worst. Everything that can go wrong in a car, and everything that can go wrong in a house, rolled into one at triple the price of what their quality usually reflects.

We had a 1998 Lexus GS300 that experienced similar issues and it was in the braking system, in particular, the ABS unit. Vibration when coming to a stop. At the time, the car was 4 years old, but can happen anytime, from what I read. Not sure what they did (actually don’t remember) but they were able to fix quickly.

One thing I remember is that other ideas to the pulsing/vibrating, and you couldn’t feel it in the pedal, was rotor warpage. That usually occurs after miles are put on the car. My rotors were not warped.

Whoa! Picked up our convertible last Thursday and only 40 miles so far. I hope we’re lucky. We’ve owned 7 first production cars in our lives: Lexus GS300, Mercedes CLS500, BMW X5, Mazda Millenia, Corvette (84, 20) and an AMC-GREMLIN X (don’t laugh too hard, that little car had a 304 V8 and was not slow. Ugly maybe, but not slow.

We had new car issues with the Mercedes and 83 1/2 year Corvette only, so we will take the chance on this one, as it is the beginning of a whole new class for the car. Being retired, I won’t mind dealing with recalls, etc. It’s a beautiful car, will have its issues, but well worth any hassles for us. My 5 cents. (2 cents with inflation)
