I'm just going to take my chances with a first-year car for which I overpaid (so sue me). I am 73 years old and don't know how many years I have left. I if I wait, I may be gone before the order comes in for a 21 or 22 MY. My kids will just have a little less money to fight over now, but I NOW have the 2020 Vette that I absolutely LOVE driving.
My My My, its not all corvette related the brake by wire is also on other GM models so is the valve spring issue. I thought I read the break by wire issue it was on 16 corvettes. The problems are pretty much solved. By the sounds of some on this forum there will be some used C8 very soon! Your loss...

The engine in 2004 911 Turbo S, with a MSRP of 161,805, took a dump at 5000 miles due to a defect in the block alloy that allowed coolant to go through the metal to places it was not welcome. The entire engine and all bolt-ons were replaced.
Oh my gosh a typo at least I’m more realistic than some car fanatics passing on fake and exaggerated numbers. Websites amplify problems. If you don’t like the car by a Lambo or Toyota. Better still go two wheels.
CP hang in there, the car is fine and you’ll love it and drive it for many years...
You're right. The amount I overpaid isn't going to change my lifestyle so I went for it. I am thoroughly enjoying this car - much more than I did my 2015 C7 that I got in 2016.
Your message is a bit unclear, but if you feel I'm misleading you about the MSRP, what say we put a few greenbacks on a bet ? How about $200.00, that the winner pays to a registered charity ?

I am happy to report that my car did not have 1 single defect identified on the 50+ list spreadsheet in this thread. It appears that GM/Bowling Green may have been paying attention and addressed all of them (at least on my car). I was extremely worried after seeing the defects posted here that they might be prevalent, but perhaps these are 1 off's out of thousands of cars. It's not all doom and gloom...these cars are amazing!!!
I've said the same before. I think that those of us that were assembled after the C19 shutdown (SD1), had the fortunate delay in time to allow GM to investigate the problems that were discovered and reported (on this forum I may add) after the 2741 were being used. I also think it allowed extensive checks during assembly and the parts (subassemblies) being used. Hopefully, we (initial RS1) will not be impacted and GM resolves these items asap.
Today just before reaching my first 400 miles the transmission started only changing from gears 2-4-6-8.... turned off and on and same issue... later on the way back home (good thing I was close to home) it wouldn’t change from gear 2 for a while than it started again back to head 2-4-6-8... its like the car doesn’t recognize gears 1-3-5-7. I guess it’s the price to pay for been in the first batch of production.... I’ll be contacting my dealer tomorrow.....
Could help my self and restarted the car and back to normal.... I didn’t try putting it in reverse the first time... but in any case just drove the car for some 20 miles and just like if nothing ever happened😁!!!! Happy for that but concerned about when will this issue shows again 😟...
If anyone has experienced something similar, please reply and let me know...
Besides this issue the car has been just pure joy... perfect in every way....
I will keep updates as GM is contacted and I get information about this issue!!!
i got my car in service today... they believe it has to do with the car learning the driver patterns and so on. They uploaded a refresh update in my odd gears into the system and most importantly I got my car back the same day!!!! I will inform periodically on this situation.. my hope is that all is good and taken care now!!!! C8 rocks and yes I will be in line to buy it again.. it’s beyond imagination...🏎❤️It!!! 😀
Hi folks, my Corvette was serviced yesterday 3/24/2020. The technician was able to recover 3 codes (P0700, P2838, P2839) if anyone can help me understand what they mean that will be awesome...
with intense help from GM tech support, the transmission programming for odd gears was reset and reloaded. GM believes it is possible that is related to the learning mode and so on...
I got my Corvette back at the end of the day... 😄...
Take care for now!
Mine VIN 06399 was delivered to dealer 9/1 with same issue and is still there. I’ve never even got to drive yet. They say bad TCM and will not be available until November. Spent hours with GM and customer service and get nowhere. So disappointed.
Since it would seem a few of us are know waiting for valve springs. How about we post a few notes, on who, when, where got new springs in and installed? Maybe we can centralize some data, and time frames of getting our cars back togetrher.
I'd say any C8 owners who are presently 'unsprung' ask GM from where they sourced the springs, to what testing were they subjected, etc. The supplier should be identified, and GM should be aware they should consider loss of use claims may be on the way. It can't exactly try to tell us these new things known valve springs are a novel idea.

Who exactly should they ask for, Mr. GM? Who at GM is going to tell these inquisitive owners sources, testing performed, etc.? Who do you send your loss of use claim to? Absolutely none of this is based in the real world. The car has a warranty and that's all you get. The dealer will fix it, enjoy the car at that point.
A retired attorney I know quite well tells me consumers who buy a product with a commonly occuring mechanical defect may have rights above and beyond the warranty. Warranties are designed to cover the occasional unsuspected repair, and have disclaimers for consequential losses and your expenses resulting from having to return the car for a repair or adjustment.
Notwithstand, when a defect recurs on your car, or is prevalent among owners of similar cars, it moves out of the warranty containment clauses. This is where forums such as corvetteforum.com can assist in identifying owners sharing the same grief with their 60,000-100,000 car. If you identify some prevalent quality issues, publish here.
Good idea to post and up date C8 issues/concerns. I have to admit I’m very happy to waited for year 2 but you never know. Its seems to me most of these issues are minor in terms of quantity and are supplier based QC issues not design.
I’m not saying GM doesn’t have responsibility they do. These issues will be resolved quickly. More happy drivers than not.

Sorry, but all that is a pile of smoked lunch meat. If you honestly think for one minute you're going to take on the likes of the attorneys that are on the payroll at GM and win, you're a huge fool. They have pockets that are so deep, you, your kids, grandkids, and their kids would run out of money to fight them first. Dream on.
