Update: This was confirmed to be an issue with the hose clamp not being installed correctly. Dealer fixed and just picked it back up.

Whoa, sorry to hear that. Car
seems to be fine, despite running overheated. Be sure the dealer cleans out the engine bay to help get rid of the coolant smell.

If someone is waiting for a totally bug free new car, they will be waiting a long time.

Admittedly, I typically wait until the second year or later for newly introduced Corvette models, not because of potential bugs (though that is something to look at, there are almost always hiccups when a new model is rolled out), but because GM has a tendency to introduce new features and variants (e.g. Z06, ZR-1, GS) in later model years that if I just waited I could have bought that instead.

This happened to me between the 2009 and 2010 model years when I bought my first C6 Z51 coupe (granted, this was 4 years into the C6 run) when if I had just waited to trade my 2004 Vette until 2010, I could have gotten a GS (I wound up getting a 2013 GS in 2014).

At any rate, I wouldn't have been able to get a 2020 Stingray anyway given they are in short supply. I want my next Corvette Museum delivered, so that is the primary reason why I am waiting.

Glad they made this thread a sticky. I am monitoring it to see what people who have the C8 now are experiencing. Really good information.

Today I started my car (636 miles) in the garage, and rolled down the drivers side window with the door closed and at the last 10% left to go down, it dropped harshly into the door. It hesitated to roll back up with lots of nasty grinding. Once it reached the top, it wouldn't roll down again. The dash then displayed. "roll window down and up again" so I guess a sensor wasn't getting the data it needed. I drove to the dealer about 30 miles away and while on the highway the window started to fall down into the door. When it was down about 50% I was able to lift it by hand and let the motor catch it and bring it back up to a full close, I heard lots of grinding and possible broken glass. Dropped it off at the dealer, the window wouldn't roll down, but you could push it down after the motor cranked a bit, yet more grinding, pulled on it and let the motor lift it back up... the sensor does not detect if the window is fully up and the dealer attempted to shut the door when it was fully up... OOF big clunk off my roof top panel... No damage tho

Awaiting a call from the dealer after they get into the door and determine the issue. I will post a follow up

July 8th 2020 My corvette driver side window was fixed. Window actuator came in at the end of last week. Car went into the shop yesterday morning for the repair 2 months after it was reported and diagnosed. She came out perfectly fixed. Remote start works again, no drive door open messages. I crossed the 1000 mile mark heading to the dealership. My car was ready for pickup by 2pm. Celebrated taking her home with the roof off and windows down.

Can you tell us which hose clamp? I'd like to check this on my own car. Thanks

Yes, I also noticed the same issue with the spots on the back hatch area. Mine is Torch Red, as it appears yours may be as well. I took delivery on the evening of 6/28, and had the local hand detail do the prep that the out-of-state GM dealer did not do (e.g., removing sticker residue, etc.), and they advised that they tried to get at those spots using the typical detail methods, but those spots remained, were smooth to the nail test, and appeared to have been in the clear coat. I suspect that it may be some kind of over spray or drip from a different color Vette, in my case seeming like ceramic grey dripped into my torch red before they finished it. I'd be very curious to know you were successful in getting your issue satisfactorily resolved without any invasive or damaging repair. FWIW, I think mine was between 400 and 500 in production.

I'll take a guess.... "Sounds" (pun intended) like you might be hearing a hum getting through to your megabuck, superduper Bose speaker system. If so, not good. Eliminating ignition noise from car sound systems was achieved decades ago.

If the problem is related to the burning smell that you sensed then my guess is it's not an ignition noise problem. If it is ignition noise it's usually something like a ground loop or a lack of noise filtering. Could be something as simple as a loose wire in a wire harness.. On second thought that wouldn't be that simple since the C8 has a lot of wires... Best thing to do is take it to the dealer and let them figure it out. That's what you paid the big bucks for... Good luck... Let us know how things turned out..

Hey everyone!
My C8 arrived on Thursday, so far it everything I hoped for and more.
Here is the issue I’m posting. Kept hearing a rattle from the rear, found it this afternoon. There is a screen in the lower rear fascia. I found a screw missing, see my attached picture.

I don't have a C8, but do hope by the time they get the bugs out, it won't be time for the C9!

I'm in the After C19 SD1 Restart Group. Thanks to all that posted their problems. It appears that GM is taking notice because the 42 point SS Checklist was used by my dealership's PDI tech and None of the noticed problems appear on my C8. Hopefully none develop LATER either. Then again, I could just be lucky - It is about time.
