”For the first time since the C8 arrived for the 2020 model year, Consumer Reports has given the Vette a “recommended” rating. This new high for the Corvette comes on the back of a few different scores:
Owner satisfaction rating – 5/5
Road test rating – 97/100
Predicated reliability rating – 3/5
Overall score – 87
An overall score of 87 ranks the 2023 Corvette first in CR’s sports/sporty cars over $40,000 segment. This places the C8 above the likes of the 2023 Toyota Supra, the 2023 Porsche 718 Boxster, and the BMW 2 series.”
A couple of clarifications for those who don’t seem to understand the posted CR rating of the C8. First, this is quoted from the latest CR automobile issue and is the most up to date data available.
The reliability ratings are not percentages, but relative rating scores. A reliability rating of 3 is considered average, with the 1-5 scale starting at “much worse than average,” and progressing up to “much better than average.” So, in this case, the C8 did not score 60%, but rather received an average rating. Surprisingly, the transmission is not noted as a trouble spot.
With all due respect. If I decided not to get a car because of a problem someone said they had with a car I would never own one. Most all cars have some issues in once sense or another. Heck, my 2020 Honda Pilot has given me more problems then all of my other cars combined.
Now to your problem. Could be a simple injector gone bad. Get it to a dealer and have them check it out.
Got both cylinder heads replaced on my 2020 at 600 mile. Had a bad tapping sound and they found the valve guides were bad.
I got my C8 back yesterday. They found a bent push rod on the #6 cylinder. They replaced all the push rods on that side of the engine. She running great now.

Great news. Hopefully it will be trouble free from here on out.

Did they provide any indication of how that push rode got bent?
They should have replaced the hydraulic roller lifters on that head too. There's a good chance that the impacted cylinder's lifter could have been damaged by the bent pushrod.
Thanks for that info. I'll talk to the service rep about that today.
Pushrods are relatively easy to replace, not requiring removal of the head. Lifters, not so much... as they require head removal for replacement. I'd actually prefer head removal so they could check for a "potential" bent valve (collateral damage). One would hope that the tech did a good visual inspection to rule out other related damage such as bad lifter and/or bent valve..
To the comment about not being able to replace the battery with the rear hatched locked without a key (newer models removed the manual key), the battery is under the frunk, not the rear hatch. So if your hatch gets stuck, replacing your battery will be the least of your issues.
The frunk has a manual release under the dash though. I am wondering if someone will make a kit that attaches to the rear hatch release and provides a bike cable/release that could be placed somewhere around the DCT area? Maybe it's a product for a non issue? I haven't heard of very many people that had their hatch drilled. One of them the dealer accused them of "submerging" the car based on water damage indicators if I recall.
Back to topic of "C8 problems", I had something occur yesterday that was a first for me.
My 2021 2LT coupe told me that my FRUNK was open when it was not. It was very clearly latched all the way. I even gave it a little push test. No luck, the dash still said it was open.
So I opened it and then closed it, and this time it said it was closed.
There is no installed PDR SD card from the factory and the nav's card is, they're two separate cards. They're also different animals as the nav's SD card most likely will get minimal rewrites where the PDR's SD card could potentially get many, depending on the SD card's size and how often you use it.
Ive had a issue since owning my C8 (1 month now). My Onstar doesnt work. I have no green light above the button. Onstar tried to update and said if the light above the button isnt on, I'd need to take it to the dealer. Trying to work with the dealer to get it in. Now, the last couple days, Ive had my phone disconnect from the radio, and a message saying my profile was removed and will need to be set up. I hit the home button and its still there. Some electrical issues brewing?

You are fortunate not to have OnStar! I’d keep it like it is.
