Had forgotten about this sticky thread. Figured I'd post a link to the thread I started about my breakdown after 1 week / 732 miles of ownership … in the process now of having the engine replaced. Details and pics in the linked thread. This is my 1st Vette and definitely not the experience I was expecting.
C8 z51 broke down at nj motor sports speedway this weekend
Hey guys...I thought you might find this amusing...so I put down my $2,000 allocation deposit with Macmulkin in NH in February of this year (Im still waiting...now allocation # 433), and so I decided to purchase some c8 track time with an organization called EXTREME EXPERIENCE at New Jersey motor sports speedway park in Millville NJ this past weekend.....where they let you drive the c8 on the race track ***** to the wall.....and on our way to the track this past Sunday morning...we recevied an emial from Extreme Experience notifying us that both c8 Z51 corvettes were pulled from the line up of cars that will be available due to mechanical failures...when we arrived I enquired as to exactly what the failures were...and I was told trransmission/shifting/computer glitches...needless to say I was pretty disapointed....

One of the threads here had a poster who posted screenshots of a Facebook conversation with a Tremec engineer. Basically the claim was they were getting dirty parts from suppliers that eventually would foul things like solenoids. Some dirtier than others and some requiring more hydraulic pressure to clean. So some may fail immediately and some may take a lot of use before dislodging debris. It’s most likely why GM recommends a flush prior to replacing the transmission.
I’d assume this would get better on later delivery dates if it’s a known supplier issue.
GM has agreed to replace my transmission. Car was built 10/22/20 and has had a load whining noise since Dec 2020. I would like to have flush performed before replacement but dealer has no info on the procedure. Can anyone provide me with service bulletin number or any correspondence from GM recommending the flush before replacement?
I have read most of the forum topics on DCT problems for the last 6 months but have not seen this information.
If your whining noise is like this:
1. only whines in a certain range of speeds (i.e., 35-45 mph)
2. only occurs when you are going a constant speed and goes away when you change pressure on throttle (either more or less)
Then you need a new transmission. This comes from incorrect shimming of the differential during manufacture, and will eventually ruin your ring/pinion gear.
The dealer took 2 weeks to replace the valve body, then the next day I had a huge transmission leak in the garage. I had it towed back to the dealer. They advised the pan gasket was “defective” but got one installed in 5 days. I just got back from a 4400 mile road trip to Maine and the car ran great, 30mpg average and flawless transmission shifts even on all the mountain roads😎
I had the EXACT same experience @Corvette4fun! Valve body replacement, then leak, then gasket replaced. AAAAND, I'm going to do a road trip to Maine as well! ha! Well, not 4400 miles.
But yes, after all that, before this upcoming trip I asked them to do the 1st recommended service and I asked them to add the 2 quarts of transmission fluid. It shifts MUCH smoother now. Love it!
I literally was driving home last night and the engine light came on 5min from my house... I think the most frustrating part is the Dealer saying they can't even SEE my car until October. I Called two other dealers and they all were within 2-3 days of each other of being able just see my car so she just has to sit in the garage...

My dealership said same thing...then I called my salesman...was in the garage with 2 hours.
Well with these undersized air vents the A/C when you start up is excessively loud. That I can deal with but lately it seems the thermostat is not working properly. I find in my corvettes the ideal temp is 74 degrees and it’s comfortable. However lately the fans never seem to slow down at that temp. If I change it to 75 they do slow down but if it put it back to 74 they go back on high again. Granted I am in Florida where it’s in the mid nineties everyday but this is ridiculous. I’m calling my dealer to make an appointment but just curious if anyone else has this problem.

Same with me... To compensate I manually set the fan speed where I want it. It simply takes it out of "auto" when you do it. The temp control still works though. My guess is that it's a software issue but time will tell.
I've noticed the fan staying fairly high as well. I have just attributed it to the high temperature/humidity here. Maybe I will just manually control the fan after the initial cool down after starting out on a drive. I’ll see if the temperature remains comfortable or if it seems to warm up inside.
Glove box won't open. Its been getting worse and worse but finally now no matter what I do it won't open. Pound on the door, press and hold the button. NADA. Made and appointment for Monday.
ALSO lost my second rear tire in 2 months. Annoying. These tires are nail magnets.
The good news just keeps coming. Lets hope your dealer knows how and can take care of these problems. With what's still a relatively new car model for them, I have some doubts. Makes me wonder if I'm doing the right thing even ordering a C8 since my tolerance for stuff like this is very low. Good luck and keep us posted.

I've had my C8 for five days. The key fob won't unlock the frunk. I'll deal with it until I take it in for a service.
FastDawg, if I remember correctly, didn't you buy from RH-D and Chris there. I have a deposit w/them and am wondering how the overall experience went for you on your new C8 purchase.
