it’s the tires…

Run Flats are stiff, loud (depending on pavement) and ride hard. I did not put runflats on my C7 when the original tires were replaced. Handling was about the same, except they were much quieter and cheaper and paid for my AAA membership.

I would say that noise and smooth ride is subjective. My minor complaint after driving my car 16,000 miles is based on my past experiences with my 2012 Jaguar XKR convert. the C8 is noisier and a bit more firmer ride. So it is subjective . What I found interesting was my XKR was a soft top but on the open road at 70-80 mph the wind noise was much quieter then my HTC. Had 2 major trips this past year at around 1500 miles each . It was a fairly comfortable ride but not a serious concern. The runflats in my opinion are firmer and noisier but livable .

Hard and stiff tires make more noise on rough payment that’s just common sense just listen - plus you can hear and feel the difference. To demonstrate go over rumble strips at speed, bricks, cobble stones softer tires are more quiet.

Please check the wheel alignment. I had excessive tire noise problems with two new cars, and later found the front tires were both worn prematurely inside or outside. The excessive wear and noise were the result of increased friction between the tires and the road. A wheel alignment solved the problem in both cases.

Road noise happens in every car - Doesn’t poor alignment generate force (pulling or pushing) the car to one side or the other? My C8 is Less noisy than my C7 was even with the hard & stiff OEM Pilot 4s. My 7 got quieter after putting Michelin all season “non-run flats” on the car but there is still road noise.

Drive on a smooth pavement & transition to a rough pavement surface. If the car pulls to one side or the other yes get an alignment.

be safe out there - drive it like you stole it.

To me, the tires are definitely noisy on some roads (freeways with grooves), but quieter on smoother ones. But never enough to warrant cranking up the radio louder than 1/3 the max volume to hear it. This is with windows up and roof on, of course.

Default 5 months, 4k miles, few issues/problems

I finally read all posts in this thread, the first 500 posts before I ordered my 2021 C8, another 500 before I took delivery and finally finishing the rest today. As you know there are many posts that pointed out engine valve spring, transmission leaks and malfunctions, electrical issues and trim and paint issues. I thank those who made these factors known. However, none of them prevented me from ordering and taking delivery of my C8.

I must report the problems/issues that I have had with my C8 for the benefit of others. I will bring these to the attention of my dealer prior to my first service visit.
1. The left door requires a hard slam to properly close, whereas the right door closes easily. This happened from day-one and has not gotten better or worse.
2. The audio mute button on the steering wheel sometimes fails to activate. Brushing and vacuuming didn't help.
3. Twice the error, "Side blind zone detection temporarily unavailable" appeared and was truthful. The first time after a large bump on a freeway. The second time on a smooth surface. Each time normal operation returned during the next drive cycle.
4. As others have reported, a bubble and cracks appeared in the paint on the front bumper cover near the headlight. The bubble later busted and flaked away, leaving a BB-sized unpainted area and paint cracks. This started after two months of service. It has not gotten any worse and others have not appeared. What have dealers recommended to fix this?

Paint bubble and cracks on right front bumper cover adjacent to headlight.

Read your post and sorry to hear the about the headaches...and thanks for posting...Im still in status mode 3000...with macmulkin NH...been there since November...from the looks of the photo it looks like the head light/bumber assembly may have been impacted (perhaps during assembly)...as that location is not consistent with the prior photos we have seen of the dimples in the paint on the front bumper and doors...none the less its heartbreaking to continue to see these issues come across the forum....but thank you once again for posting and I hope the dealer steps up to the plate and resolves all your issues...all the best

My issues after 1 year of ownership:
  1. Dealer Experience is awful.
    • Had a seat cover replaced and the dealership managed to scratch some leather and plastic trim when removing the seat.
      • The seat cover was also replaced poorly and the dealership told me they didn't have the right tools to make it fit perfectly. (I don't know why they accepted a job if they didn't have the tools)
      • The replaced seat cover has all kinds of leather creases in it even though no one sits there.
    • My drivers side window is not aligned correctly and make noises when I drive. It needs to move towards the rear by 1 CM to fix, but two dealerships have expressed that they are too afraid to adjust a window. I need to find a third dealership to do a window adjustment. It blows my mind.
  2. Gas cap arm is scratching the paint.
    • I need to get a dealership to look at this in the spring. I don't have high hopes.
  3. Chevy didn't fully paint my trunk. You can see a whole section that wasn't sprayed along the back right of my trunk.
    • I don't trust a dealership to repair this without a ton of orange peel, so I will live with this.
  4. Chevy didn't install the passenger footwell wall correctly. As a result, the passenger floormat wouldn't fit.
    • My delivery dealership didn't think anything was wrong and just laied the floormat in the car..
    • I ended up needing to adjust the footwell wall myself while trying to not disconnect the AC line.
  5. Steering Wheel Suede skin doesn't fit well and there are small bunched up sections on the left and right (9 and 3). I see this on a lot of people's cars with Suede. It's a quality control Chevy thing...

I'm not the most technical with cars, so please correct me if I am wrong, but I think reindexing is just up and down.

My issues is that the window sits too far forward and it doesn't touch enough of the back padding (near your ear). So it kind of flexes in the back because it's not snug. If I can reindex towards the back of the car easily, I'll give it a shot.

Here's a photo where you can see the gap that needs tightened.

I’m not an expert & I think your right indexing isn’t the answer. Either way it should be a simple fix in the hand of a competent mechanic

Mine finally came. Car has been at the dealers for a month now. Not digging the experience so far.

Dealership should be able to do it. Looks like the window hardware is a bit out of alignment. Door panel gaps seem straight, so it doesn't look like the door alignment is off, although can't see the whole door so can't know with 100% certainty, but from what I can see I'd bet on the window hardware.

Thanks! I thought the same. My door feels perfectly aligned. My issue is that my dealership expressed concerns taking apart my door to re-align the window to fix the noise. They thought it would be safer to live with the noise vs risk them causing other issues.

This is my first Chevy and I know the C8 is new, but I've been really turned off by the dealership experience so far. I get that the car is expensive, but if you don't trust your ability to fix an issue like this, how can I trust anything else? I'm not asking for them to drop the motor or transmission.

I suppose I have to keep shopping around for a good Pittsburgh based dealership..

Default DCT failures

It’s now been 30 days waiting for a replacement transmission for the 2021 HTC.
No ETA on when a replacement will become available. Several C8’s at the dealer still waiting for theirs. Time to Lemon Law and move on. I can’t say it’s been a “pleasurable experience”.

Your dealer may offer you more for it than you'd get from a Lemon Law settlement.
