The service manager gave me a phone number to GM legal with my case number. I offered to waive all liabilities if I can take my car home. They refused, but offered to keep my car under a shelter until my transmission and wheels come in.
*sigh* It keeps getting better and better, all 4 of my wheels have been deemed defective. In addition to the transmission, I also have to wait for 4 new wheels...

That brings up another question... There's a ton of people selling their "uninspected" stock wheels. A case in point, hypothetically... Say you buy a set of wheels from a C8 owner and they suffer greatly from the porosity issue. I doubt that GM will replace the wheels since they are "used" and weren't originally on your car. Since they're entirely different then the ones that your car was shipped with the dealer/GM refuses any warranty replacement. IMO, people in the market needs to be aware of this.
I hear ya...Congrats man ....and thanks once again to all those who went before us and suffered the pain and the headaches on the earlier models ...kudos to them for keeping everyone informed on this thread going forward ...and I will continue to do the same....I just finalized my work bench order at Macmulkin in Nashua NH and inked my contract....its a done deal...my order status is 2000....car is due in February...I paid MSRP ...this is the price that is listed on the chevrolet build website....Kudos to Macmulkin for honoring these numbers while other dealers are charging $25k over msrp....cant wait
@dave68 well wishful thinking on my part then... still an awesome car though right???
Yes, as was my 2001 C5 (well, except for the squishy seats). By the way, in 2016, a Motor Trend magazine writer who long-term tested a 2015 C7 included this list of issues after 25,000 miles:
Sticking parking brake
Center display "outage"
Targa creak
Steering wheel squeak
Front brake squeal
Driver's door squeak
He did mention that GM had been through 4 quality chiefs in as many years.
I guess it you were a 10 year old who sold overripe (bad) lemons, but despite this you were always sold out, you'd have no incentive to improve, right? This appears to be the case with GM. Maybe those quality chiefs wanted to turn things around but told the kingpins in charge that it would cost additional manpower and money, resulting in their getting the boot.
If I were the Quality manager, I'd probably get fired because I wouldn't stand for all the issues I'm seeing here.
I can't drive on them since the wheels have been deemed defective. GM says it's too much of a liability, so they gave me a crappy rental till my car is done.
The only way there can be a liability issue is if there is a safety issue. Below is a link to the Service Bulletin: https://www.corvetteblogger.com/docs/tsb-n202315730.pdf
There is no mention of this being a safety or structural issue. If it was a safety issue they wouldn't be able to limit their liability to replacing the wheels while the car is under warranty. Likely the worst thing that would happen is the wheels would have a slow leak.
So that leaves three possible conclusions:
1) Your wheels have a problem that is more extensive than that covered by the service bulletin to the extent that it constitutes a safety hazard. If so, how do they know it is limited to just your car?
2) GM is incompetent at interpreting its own documentation.
3) They're lying.
Well, that's interesting, after I moan and groaned, a new set of wheels have magically became available. I should be able to pick up my car by the end of the day. Still waiting on the transmission, though.
Went out to start my 10 day old C8HTC with 650 miles. Pushed start button, engine cranked then it shut off. I thought maybe I inadvertently hit the start button twice and the second push of the button shut it down so tried again, more carefully.
Same thing. Started, then shut down. Only this time I noticed a slight engine whine before it shut down.
And I had a check engine
Called Onstar and they said they would send a diagnostic email and transfer me to tech support. They did send the email but dropped the call three times, confirming that OnStar is worthless. Something I already knew.
I will attach a screenshot of the diagnostic report but note it says I can service at my convenience unless it impacts operation of the vehicle. Yeah. Not starting qualifies as operation of the vehicle.

What a bummer.
Sorry to hear that Greg. That’s a new one to me. I’m hoping you at least have it at home and are not traveling with it. While keeping current in this forum (and this thread particularly) along the several month wait for my car I had fears like that for my drive home from the museum after taking delivery. Sorry you’ve having a bad experience so quickly out of the gate. Will definitely be interested to hear how this develops.
Reverse screen has went black. Still shows the the different camera selections at the bottom of the screen and the sensor still alert when nearing objects. The infotainment screen also is very delayed on start up and occasionally slow between selections. Especially PDR part. Not sure when I can get it to the dealer.

It’s safely in my garage right now. Like a big-*** paperweight. I just talked with Onstar/Chevy roadside assistance and they are going to pick it up at 0700 on Tuesday.
Don’t want to be overly pessimistic but I think this is a serious problem. Like new engine serious.
I really don't have a clue why you're comparing a 1960's C2 against a C8 and then talk about having GM retro the C8 back to 1963? A lot of rambling at best. As far as the "Clutch-by-Wire" goes the C8 does have that by holding both paddles at the same time.
cant get both feet up on the paddles and still steer

But I’m hoping for the best.
UPDATE:
Simple fix. MAF sensor connector came loose. Reconnected and on the way to pick it up now.

Just curious, did you go with the STOCK black/silver engine cover or did you get a custom cover color?
FYSA, they don't install those at the factory. They install them at the delivery dealer during PDI. When my cover was installed (replaced really), someone didn't properly re-attach the crank case ventilation tubing line to the QD connector. I didn't notice this until I installed my JLT3 catch can (which many believe isn't necessary, but it catches some oil anyway).
I was shocked to find out that they do this cover installation step at delivery and then have to ship the black covers back. Seems like wasted effort / shipping, but I guess it reduces the amount of steps done by the staff at BG. I wanted to keep the black cover, but the PDI dealer said it had to be shipped back to GM.
So the reason I am wondering is maybe someone knocked that MAF sensor connector loose in the process of installing the engine cover?

Well, not as simple as I thought. Went to pick it up and the the service tech drove it around and shut it off. I heard the fan running and knew it shouldn’t be running in that 30 second drive. I restarted it and the CEL was on.
It might have been a MAF sensor issue and still might be. But it isn’t fixed.

My buddy got his original in addition to the red one he ordered which was installed during (museum delivery) PDI. They put the original in the trunk for him. I just confirmed
The last couple of times I've driven my 2021 I get an error message on the display screen soon after I start driving it that the sound system can't connect with Apple CarPlay. I don't have my iPhone 12 hooked up to CarPlay. It's in my pocket playing music through Bluetooth. I have to delete the error message by touching the screen and a few minutes later it comes on again. Once I delete it again it goes away and doesn't come back on for the rest of my drive. Has anyone experienced this problem?

The ‘21 has wireless car play. It may be trying to connect to some degree. I’d delete the phone and re-add it. Set it as primary, and don’t allow any secondary phone connections (until you get yours working the way you want it to). I had to delete my wife’s until i got mine setup just right.

So you are telling me the shitty CD dealer stole my engine cover and fed me this whole story about them having to ship these parts back?
