The last couple of times I've driven my 2021 I get an error message on the display screen soon after I start driving it that the sound system can't connect with Apple CarPlay. I don't have my iPhone 12 hooked up to CarPlay. It's in my pocket playing music through Bluetooth. I have to delete the error message by touching the screen and a few minutes later it comes on again. Once I delete it again it goes away and doesn't come back on for the rest of my drive. Has anyone experienced this problem?
I've been going back and forth on my thoughts re wired vs wireless. The differences are obvious, but in reality how they actually work is far from design - wireless anyway. No problems at all with the wired, but .... the obvious. I have a 2020 C8 so wired is the scenario. But I have a 2021 GMC Acadia that has the wireless android that i assume should be "identical" to the C8 version with the minor exception that part of the $5-10K upgrade, you get auto connect all the time instead of just after the first start being required to select a number of buttons to activate it for the day it seems. I don't have to do anything (reconnects automatically) if I go into a store and then when I reenter my car it is reconnects - 50-75% of the time. When driving, the wireless link (?Bluetooth) drops on occasions and I have to start all over again, occasionally have to reboot phone (5% of the time). So all in all, I have those problems you describe and it's just the nature of cell phones that are still not ready for prime time after decades!
I use each and deal with it as there is no other choice for either. I feel your pain - I'm sure so does everyone else that uses a cell phone.

It is an odd problem. Since August 2020 I'm an all GM guy. My wife has a 2020 Denali and I drive a 2020 Silverado 2500HD. My iPhone connects to both of those vehicles through Bluetooth about 95% of the time each time I get in one of them. I have never gotten any kind of error message and I only have to choose my iPhone on the screen if it doesn't automatically start playing music when I get into one of those vehicles. One would think that in the C8 it would do the same thing, but the only thing I can think of is there is far more microprocessors in the C8 than my other truck/SUV.
Has anyone had this....When changing from all the drive modes the instrument cluster doesn't change. Drive modes change perfectly but the dash view doesn't.
I’m pretty sure that is selectable. You can choose to have only one dash display in all modes, one of the other “display themes” that can be set. The following directions were listed under the “Options Menu”

Yep, happened to me and I reset everything to defaults. The post above is spot on for how it happened...at least in my case.

Your percentages are right on, I have the same issue. Wireless is cool but I don't think the software is perfected as of yet. Wired does seem more reliable as of today. When I see the most inconsistent use, is when I may go in and out of a cell signal in remote areas, it sometimes has trouble re-initializing back to normal. Not sure if you've noticed this, seems sometimes volume comes back at about 50% therefore restarting the phone is the only way to get that back.
Side note the sound quality to me is equal to both wired and unwired.

Like you mentioned I must have gone into the dash display from the thumb button on the steering wheel a week ago, and changed the "display mode to sport mode" let's say, now it caused all displays to be "sport" dash when it should always, for the most part, be set to "driver mode". The tiles are cool although since via the modes they can be adjusted. 5000 miles later still learning. lol
Wireless Carplay runs on Wi-Fi, so if you are in an area with a lot of Wi-Fi interference it will probably cut out from time to time. No real way to make that better except for hooking up wired. I'm kind of out in the country, so mine works perfectly unless I drive into a large metro area.
I have read some threads about the lack of a manual option for raising and lowering the C8 HTC. Lots of comments about how that’s silly and doesn’t happen. I am here to tell you that they were all wrong. Mine is broken after only a few months of use. Of course the dealer ordered a part and it’s still broken. They now have my car while they work with the tech department. Of course now the weather is perfect and I have no convertible to use.

I'm not sure what you are saying. Are you saying people are wrong about a manual option to raise and lower the HTC, or they are silly because some owners will have a HTC that malfunctions?

I’m not sure where is the original post. However I can tell you on a 600 mile road trip through city freeways and desolate highways, the car play cut in and out for both wireless and wired operation. I tried to eliminate interference by unplugging my radar detector—no difference. Problem ranges from skipping a beat every 30 seconds or completing disconnecting and requiring pushing the touchscreen to reconnect.
I have wired car play on a Mazda and Honda—never had this type of problem.

Seems to me that Android or Apple car play does work on wifi but wifi direct IN the car NOT wifi outside the car. So interruptions in NETWORK signals would interrupt the connection not the in car wifi. So when your internet isn't working in the car neither does your autoplay app work wired or wireless. 2021 and above C8 has a better in car wifi so wireless is possible and should work seamlessly. My phone although sometimes in charger, is in my pocket never coming out and works fine no wires. ONLY problem is sometimes for no reason sound only runs at about 50%, and what you'll have to do with that is while carplay is up and running, just switch to another app like Spotify let's say from your C8 head unit that uses sound, go to it then come back to carplay it will all work perfectly with the best full sound quality it can get, amazing.
On the other hand if you want you can play carplay via the cars wifi (all automatically) of songs that you've downloaded and sit residemt on your phone, then if no internet, all works perfectly internet or no internet, like you know you'll be in a remote location.

Thank you, Sir. you saved us a trip to the dealer, and looking like a dope. I guess I switched into the one display mode. Followed your directions and all is working correctly. gotta love CF
Hi guys I visit the forum off and on, and I recently got an email from dealer to build the car, before I order it I just want to check the C8's problems. I understand DCT problem is being reported less recently? so maybe less problems with DCT on the newer model? and there is the customer reports issue about C8's poor reliability. Any other serious problems?
In my opinion, car wifi is useless since you probably are getting 4LTE or 5g on your phone. Why pay for it? SAT Radio for $6 per month is worth it in my opinion, OnStar (a must) can track your car for a insurance theft discount for about $5 per month like LoJack. If apple carplay is reliable thats cool for calls and texts Pandora or Spotify. Carplay is hit or miss in my Toyota.
