So the other day I went for a drive and after parking, I came out and my rear license plate was half off. One of the mounting points had come loose. I tried to fix and it would pop back into place, but even with a gentle tug, it would pop off again. I had the car delivered only a few weeks ago and am planning to do track driving etc soon, and I'm worried that it's not secured enough for the track, let alone potholes around town.
I had the car delivered from a dealership remotely and the car came with nothing to mount the rear plates. I bought standard sized self tapping nylon and rubber license plate mounting kits. They are standard size, 1/4" x 3/4" fasteners. Both kits failed. Am I missing something? Was the car supposed to come with something else? I called the local chevy dealer, and they are asking for 40 dollars to 2 screws.
I know this question seems ridiculously simple, and I can't believe I'm asking, but has anyone else run into this issue?
Just bought a 2022 C8R --Love the car--Hate the road noise inside when driving 40 mph and up. At 70 mph I cannot hear the radio even at almost max radio volume. The noise is extremely similar to my 2018 Jeep Wrangler which has oversize knobby off-road tires. This is the 12th Corvette I've owned and I have never experienced this type noise before. Anyone else have this type issue? I am not talking about engine noise or exhaust noise--this is the sound of the tires filling the cabin to where it is almost impossible to hear the radio and forget about talking on the phone--full volume on the phone and you cannot make out what the caller is saying. Help!!

Can't hear the radio over the road noise? Can you post a picture of you with the car so we can confirm the tires you have and the size of your troll hat?
With the stereo even at half volume and windows up you can't hear a thing from outside or even the engine RPM which makes it easy to miss a shift if you aren't watching the RPM gauge. I am calling BS.

This is highly unusual. It’s simple enough to have it evaluated by the dealer. If it’s as bad as you describe then it should be obvious to anyone stepping into the car. My HTC seems as quiet as any other recent car and even manageable with the top down.

Tire noise on the C8 is highly dependent on the surface you are driving on. If you have excessive tire noise on new, smooth asphalt then there may be something wrong with your car. Tire noise on worn asphalt or concrete is inherent in the C8. The noise can be reduced with different tires at the expense of handling.

The car should have come with the GM hardware to mount the license plate. Mine has no problems. Contact your dealership and ask them to send you the proper attachment hardware.
hmmm... i will have to contact the selling dealer.
quite frustrating, coming from other companies, i could just roll into the local dealership and they'd take care of it for me. i called the local chevy dealers and they didnt seem too interested since I purchased the car elsewhere.
The dealer has my 2021 C8 for six weeks waiting for a replacement transmission and GM was no idea when one will be available. It’s eligible for lemon law but I don’t want a refund I want a C8 I can drive.

Can you drive the C8 until they get the transmission? If it’s a porosity issue, I’d be driving my C8 in the meantime, not leaving it at the dealer

Why would you expect a local dealership to handle it instead of the dealership from whom you purchased it? They should send it to you if they screwed it up. I seriously doubt that if I bought a Porsche from Park Place, they screwed up the plate bracket, and took it to Porsche Plano they'd be super-happy to handle it.
I don’t understand, the issue - the license plate bracket is OPTIONAL and obtainable when the vehicle is configured. It is available through GM parts. Dealers just buy cars as cheap as they can hoping to sell them to walks Ins. I was careful with my configuration and I had 2 years to get it right since my 21 order was cancelled by GM. Try GM parts on line.

The rear license plate mounting hardware is not optional. And if you live in a state that requires a front plate you don't get charged for the front bracket. This may be a law (at least in California) but I don't know. I do know that the dealer is supposed to install the front plate bracket and temporary plate in a state that requires a front plate. Many dealers will give you the option on whether or not the front bracket gets installed.
What rear plate hardware? The plastic imbedded nuts in the facia for the screws that hold the plate on? If the plastic nuts pop out use some clear silicone caulking to hold it. It’s all covered by the plate, you’re the only one that will know.

it isn’t. I have the same problem. It’s been that way since I bought it. It’s the tires., do you actually own and drive a C8? Because this is commonplace with high performance tires.

C8 is not loud at all and you should have no problem hearing the radio. I've had two. It's especially quiet road noise compared to the C7.

Our C8 is extremely quiet at any speed including 70 mph on various highways. Perhaps searching for a reason why yours is not quiet compared to others might result in some potential ideas for the condition you describe.
