My Cobra. The color is the Jeep Grand Cherokee Inferno Red Crystal Pearl. It's a very deep cinnamon color. My favorite Red. The lesson to be learned is you can't trust any color from a photo. Do a search on the color of YOUR current car and you will see 10 different shades of the same color. I will wait until I see the red mist in person.
Mustang GT has a closely related color this year. They call it Rapid Red. It’s an optional extra cost color.
I've seen this color on Ford's Explorer SUV. Looks great in the sun. I still believe the best looking color on a cloudy day is metallic silver. Reds on a cloudy day are nothing special. They're at their best in the sun.
The way I see it, the LBR C8/C7 owners/buyers, are trying to salvage and retain what few fans LBR will have left after the Red Mist gets out on the streets. It's settled, the debate is over. "Red Mist" has taken Center Stage going forward.

Yep, Mazda made their similar color (Soul Red) so popular, starting in 2014, that a lot of manufacturers have jumped on the bandwagon. Toyota has a similar color as well.

Beautiful Mustang!
Thanks having a blast with it. It’s got the 10 speed auto with a 3:55 axle so it’s pretty quick. When you don’t have the money for the C8 you want ...........
I have to see it in person to know for sure but like what I see from the picture.
Been following "Red Mist" since GM Authority had this pic below in March! My concern, having a C8 on order in LBR, what to do IF I got pushed into a 2021? Then the pic from the Bash had me very concerned, would have to pick another color. The latest "Marketing Graphic" looks fine BUT then why did the Vette senior management use the "Red Mist" pic at the Bash presentation?
I also chuckle at those that think it's just the paint color! Yep, sure if GM just picks the "color" McLaren uses it will look just like that! And the red from the GM paint line, with the pre-paint prep and no color sanding of the clear coat etc on composite panels will look just like the red Bugatti Veyron applied on their metal body if they just use the same color!
I am not a marketeer but I have to believe that this new color will be drawing prospective torch red buyers away from that color than any other color offered in the lineup. It doesn't make much sense to offer 2 paints in the same MY that are of similar hue. I suspect this new color will eventually phase out torch red.
Totally disagree. There is no way red mist is replacing torch red. GM has usually offered two red options, at least for the past few decades. I think you'd have to go back to certain years of C4 to find a model year with only one choice of red. If they offer two blues, (rapid and elkhart lake) they will keep offering two reds, since red is generally more popular than blue.
And I don't think the new red will be that similar to TR.
Torch red is bright, non-metallic, almost appearing orangish in certain light. The dark red metallic colors like carmine, magnetic, and crystal (which are probably the closest comparison to the new red mist) are all similar to each other, but very different looking from torch red. You would never accidentally mistake them for torch red.

Also have not seen mention the fact that metallic tint cost will add -$1000. In fact if they use copper flake instead of the usual cheap aluminum flake AND whatever if as one guess was they added for a pearl effect cold be more.
FWIW, all of the tintcoat/3-stage colors generally are options that cost an additional $1K or so over standard base/clear colors. That's usually the case with all manufacturers. On our MX-5, I believe Soul Red was a $995 option.

As time moves forward, I'll be monitoring production numbers and sales by color. I'll report back. There are only so many slices to cut up in a single pie. Prepare yourself to eat a big slice of humble pie when next year rolls around.

May have changed but where I thought it was an extra tinted clear coat, in 2008 when I ordered a C6, GM said they had to remove one existing tintcoat because were adding a Blue tinticoat. So they picked the color least affected which was Atomic Orange. Since I ordered early in the model year all I had seen was the 2007 Atomic Orange tintcoat and was not taking a chance so ordered Velocity Yellow tintcoat.
A Forum moderator corrected my assumption in a post that it was an extra time for the paint coat or they must not have had another paint robot in the line for the 3rd coat. He said the extra cost was because they had to clean the clear color robot and install tinted clear then clean again. That is my understanding of what my C7 Crystal Red Metallic tintcoat was, a tinted single clear coat. Differing costs for various GM cars for the same color was based on the cost of doing that on those lines. He said the limit on number was the extra time they could tolerate in the paint line at the time and not reduce production speed. He had been through the paint line at the time so I'm assuming he was correct. Perhaps it's changed on the new paint line.
Paint can cost more particularly the metallic colors. My Street Rod paint, for example has two sizes of aluminum flake. Pearl, which one post said "Red Mist" was the same number as as dark red one called Tactical Pearl 1 (See pic below.) Pearl paint is made with iridescent mica. ChromaFlair is a pigment that changes color as you move around the car in the same light. It can cost >$10,000 just for the paint. Here is a quote: an ultra-exclusive Porsche Chromaflair paint job costs roughly $100,000. In that case it's more that the paint!
I’m hoping by the time the Z06 comes out they make a red that isn’t so orange like Torch Red. The metallic red would be pretty but I’m not a huge fan of metallic on sports cars so a deeper darker red would be my preference. That being said, Mazda definitely does their reds beautifully. I can always wrap it again, but I’d really prefer a factory color that nails it for me.
