I've seen here and in the instructions about the 10 minute wait and other cautions about the electrical system. I'm going to be installing mine as part of some other work. Is there any reason not to just disconnect the battery until the mechanical installation is finished and not worry about generating a CEL?
I wasn't sure that my memory settings would be wiped if I disconnected the battery and didn't want to go through the hassle of reprogramming all my settings...I also haven't heard of anyone having issues with a CEL after install...
Thanks, it just worries me when instructions talk about electrical errors. As far as losing memory settings, you won't. I've had my battery disconnected many times for various reasons. The worst that happens is that you have to re-index the windows.

if it helps any, the total time to install the soler is about 15 mins.

I think that would be fine, but I had no issues installing mine with the battery connected, and haven't seen anyone else post about a problem. I installed one in a friend's car, too, and again no issue with the battery connected. Once you have it physically connected you'll have to reconnect the battery in order to pair it with your phone, of course.
I actually got a check engine light when I did the install. It was something like throttle pedal sensor input voltage high. I think this is a non latching code which should clear before long. I cleared this using a scanner.
Mine came in today. I did all that Yoga for nothing as it was stupid simple, no twisting or contorting. It actually took more time to wait the 10 minutes than the actual install; which I would say was all of 6-7 minutes. No check engine light.....
Love the phone app, left all the cable rolled up the way it came out of the box and stuff it all behind the carpet which makes it totally hidden.
So far I just went right to Sport 4 and HOLY #$^% what a difference!!!! I know the car is the same HP as it was 20 minutes earlier but it sure feels so much faster. So much better response from stock.
Will play with other modes later.
If you're on the fence, jump off and go for it...you will NOT be sorry.
Before taking the car back to the dealer, use the phone app or display to reset the throttle to OEM. Don't want the car jockey at the dealer digging into the throttle and not being ready for the extra acceleration.
I spoke to Mike at Soler about that and he said when you set it back to O.E.M. it would not leave any tell tale trace of ever being installed. Not that I don't trust his knowledge, but it will give me peace of mind to remove it completely just on the off chance the mechanic finds the controller and voids my warranty. As everyone agrees, it's not that big a deal to R&R.
I just got around to installing mine. It was incredibly easy, even for an old guy. Once I unbolted the gas pedal I could twist it around and actually see the connector as I worked it. The cables tucked in under the carpet and I didn't mount the display at all (I'm just using my phone). No way anyone could tell it's there. Thanks to all here for the advice/instructions.
I only drove around for a few minutes to test that changing the settings actually works. What a difference! I'll probably keep mine in the higher comfort modes to lower sport modes to start until I have more time to play.
