same exact issue just happened on mine.
2023 HTC
have had since Feb 2023...used the convertible top occasionally.
So not overly used, but i'd say total of 20-30 times since i've had car.
taking to dealership this week to hopefully fix.
I have an exact same issue so I can't close the top. I called dealership today and they told me they need at least 24-48 for diagnostic and possibly another day to fix it. Meanwhile if I don't have a car, they will not provide a loaner and you are SOL. This car MSRP was over 100k and service is ridiculous IMO.

Mine initially told me the same. I took it in, they saw the issue and ordered parts. I took the car home. When the car came in I made an appointment and made sure they understood I needed the car back that day.
Happened to me today. Put the top down after lunch to go home and heard a pop. Initially I thought it might be the top sticking to the seals but when we got home and tried to put the top up it was apparent something was wrong. I was able to put the top down again to be able to drive it to the dealer. Time to schedule an appointment around the weather.
Failures of the HTC are still rare. Far more complaints about the DCT than top failures. Mine is more than 2 years old with 20K miles and the top up and down all the time. Still works fine.
Edit: I see Andybump beat me to it with the same basic thought.
Ditto, 22 HTC with 25k miles and hundreds of top cycles no problems.
It happened again to me.
The right side that was replaced back in June is broken again.
It happened while I was showing off how the convertible top works!
The part has been on backorder for 2 1/2 weeks now.
They said it wasn't the same cable that broke last time. The new part is $700.00 they said.
How many cables are on each side?
I'm only aware of one cable per side.
The cable that people have been having issues with is, according to the thread linked below, is part # 85150325, and costs $270. Not sure what part they're talking about at $700. If it's not under warranty, I'd have them show you the part, and the part # / price in their system.
