Illinois Senator Julie A. Morrison (D-29) is pushing a bill that allows judges to confiscate guns without input from the firearm owner. This is part of the continuing effort to fight gun crime that gun control has failed to stop in Chicago and the rest of the state.
SB 1291 would create a “Lethal Order of Protection” whereby the firearms of Illinois residents could be confiscated if a family member or “law officer” files a petition stating the gun owner “poses an immediate and present danger of causing personal injury to himself, herself, or another by having … [a firearm] in his or her custody or control.”
Our all knowing state representatives are at it again. Please click on the link below and file witness slips showing that you are opposed to the 3 bills that they are considering. The link will take you to the Illinois State Rifle Associations action alert page and it contains all the instructions on how to file the witness slips. Let's shut these overreaching bills down. I sure wish our state representatives would spend a few minutes doing something about the real problems that this state faces instead of inventing paper tigers. Thanks in advance for showing them that you oppose these actions.

FYI, this weekend only Gat Guns in East Dundee, IL, has there huge dealer factory shoot going on with some great deals on some excellent sales taking place this week only.
if you are in the market for an AR 15 this weekend only they have a huge sale and our selling the Ruger AR .556 for only $480, normally its $649, so that is a SMOKING deal on a very decent entry level AR 15. Bob (Quicksilver) if you are in the market for an AR 15 that deal has your name on it. Heck, at that price point I was very tempted to pick up another AR as a backup to my Colt M4.
A Chicago man pleaded guilty Tuesday to brokering the sale of more than 70 illegal guns.
John Thomas, 33, who is also known as “Batman,” pleaded guilty to two counts of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of dealing firearms without a license, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

A man was carjacked at gunpoint early Friday morning in west suburban Naperville.
Just before 5 a.m., officers were called to the BP station at 1983 Brookdale Rd. for reports of an armed robbery, according to Naperville police. They arrived to find a 40-year-old man who told them he had been carjacked.
A man had approached him, pointed a handgun at him, and demanded his vehicle, police said. The suspect was last seen driving north from the scene in the silver 2013 Lexus with license plate ES300H.
The suspect was described as a 5-foot-10, 200-pound man, about 20 years old and dressed in all black, police said. Anyone with information should call police at (630) 420-6666.

MADISON, Wis. -- Hidden handguns could be legally carried without a license in Wisconsin under a far-reaching, Republican-backed proposal being circulated for co-sponsors.
The bill unveiled Tuesday would also allow licensed concealed carry permit holders to bring firearms into places where they are currently barred, including school buildings, unless signs are posted prohibiting them.
Bill co-sponsor Republican Rep. Mary Felzkowski says its intent is to remove the "barrier of the concealed carry permit" so people can exercise their constitutional right to carry a gun.
The measure would also create a new concealed carry license that doesn't require holders to pass a gun training course.
It's unclear whether the measure has enough support among Republicans who control the Legislature to pass this session.
The state is back at it again. The Illinois Rifle association is requesting that everyone call their state senators tomorrow morning to ask them to oppose SB1657. More detail in this link:
The way I read it, you would have to be licensed by the wonderful state of Illinois if you want to sell any gun. That isn't referring to FFLs only, that is referring to you if you want to sell one gun out of your collection. Sure wish these guys could find a few minutes to work on the state budget. Seems they have plenty of time for this foolishness.

A new indoor shooting range and gun store is to be built on North Aurora Road in a mostly industrial area of Naperville.
Point Blank Range & Gun Shop is in the process of obtaining a construction permit for the 14,000-square-foot building proposed for the corner of North Aurora Road and Frontenac Court.

Yeah, went to check out their new Hodgkins location 3 weeks ago. Nice modern gun shop with friendly people working there. If you want to squeeze off a couple double taps or get away with a little rapid fire, go to Gats and Maxons, you can get away with a lot more on the range if you like to push the envelope a little.

Indiana man sentenced in Chicago for gun sales
The Associated Press
CHICAGO (AP) — A 44-year-old Indiana man has been sentenced to two years in a prison for bringing guns from Indiana and illegally selling them on the streets of Chicago.
A U.S. attorney’s office statement Friday says jurors convicted Willie Lee Biles Jr. of dealing firearms without a license last year. Judge Sara Ellis in Chicago sentenced him Thursday.
Prosecutors say Biles legally bought around 30 guns from licensed dealers in Indiana, and then sold them on the West Side of Chicago at more than two times the purchase price. Prosecutors say he never asked for identification from buyers and didn’t verify whether they could legally own guns.
A government sentencing memo alleged the guns have been used in attempted murders. It also said they were also recovered from gang members and felons.
Concealed carry didn’t come to Illinois — the last state in the nation to enact such a law — until a federal appeals court ruled as unconstitutional the state’s ban on concealed carry in December 2012. Lawmakers spent six months crafting a bill and then gave the Illinois State Police, who regulate and administer the program, another six months to prepare. This year, 223,608 people have valid CCL permits in Illinois, according to the Illinois State Rifle Association’s Executive Director Richard Pearson.
“In the first year, people were qualifying in ice storms and in sleet, they wanted to have it that badly,” Pearson said of the first to obtain a CCL. “But it’s leveled out since then.” He said the initial thought was that 300,000 people would have CCL permits within five years of the program starting, so things are slightly ahead of schedule.
So why the dip in the second year? Pearson and others think that the first year was high simply because those who really wanted a CCL rushed out to get one. After that, there were more people who had to be convinced either by friends or world events to get one.

ELMHURST, Ill. (WLS) -- Elmhurst police are searching for a man who nearly carjacked a woman in her driveway after following her home from the grocery store.
The woman was pulling into her garage when she noticed a man pointing a gun at her. He then approached her car on the driver side and entered the garage, she told police.
Scared for her safety, the woman pulled out of the garage quickly, almost striking the man. He then ran out of the garage to a car that was waiting nearby and the car drove northbound on Mitchell toward Harrison, police said. The car is described as a gray four-door sedan with tinted windows.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Elmhurst Police Department at 630-530-3050.

With one stroke of a pen, Gov. Terry Branstad is poised to make Iowa one of the friendliest states for gun owners.
Lawmakers have passed a bill that many say is the most comprehensive and broadest piece of legislation on gun rights the state has seen. The legislation would, among other things, allow citizens to use deadly force if they believe their lives are threatened and to sue local government officials if they think gun-free zones have violated their Second Amendment rights.

CHICAGO (CBS) — Chicago aldermen on Monday grudgingly endorsed an ordinance that would ease restrictions on where shooting ranges can be located in the city.
Ald. Michele Smith (43rd) was one of four aldermen to vote against the measure at a joint meeting of the Committee on License and Consumer Protection, and the Committee on Zoning, Landmarks and Building Standards.
