The most recent robbery occurred about 10 a.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Testa Drive, an apartment community northeast of Jefferson and Ogden avenues.

Police said the gunman in that case crept up quietly behind the victim. The owner said he could see the gun, but was unable to get a good look at the carjacker's face, police said at the time.
Anyone who witnessed or has information about any of the Naperville carjackings is asked to call police at 630-420-6666.

The facility is being marketed as more than your average shooting range, but also an entertainment destination complete with a retail space as well as an upscale members-only lounge where alcohol would be served.
"We're talking about a gun range, a 'guntry club,' with superior amenities," Neveril said.
"I believe it's good for the community. I believe that these people have made a proper presentation," said John Wagner, Willowbrook resident.
The developer said strict rules would prohibit anyone drinking in the lounge from also using the shooting range, but there was vocal skepticism.

A pproposed gun range and shop on McLean Boulevard in Elgin was moved along by the City Council Wednesday night by a 5-4 vote — and a lawsuit involving the City of Chicago was part of the decision-making process.
A final vote on the matters is set for May 10.
Those measures include conditional use zoning, a text amendment and a map amendment for Mark Glavin of Wayne to use 20,000-square-feet at 780 S. McLean Blvd. in a strip mall for The Fox Valley Shooting Club, which he said would be geared toward women. The Council also was asked to modify city code so it would allow discharge of a weapon within city limits. The operation plans to open at 8 a.m. on Sundays and to have special window glass as security in lieu of other security measures.

It’s called the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network (NIBIN). Basically when police recover a gun or shell casing from a crime scene, they immediately enter that data into the NIBIN—which now has created a valuable story for tens of thousands of guns still on the streets and those recovered from bad guys.
Basically, when officers recover a gun they can immediately tell when and where it’s been used anywhere in the country.

Dear Robert,
Thank you for contacting my office to share your views about SB 1657, the Illinois Gun Dealer Licensing Act. As a strong supporter of 2nd Amendment rights, I share your concerns about any bill that seeks to impose additional licensing requirements for law abiding gun owners and legitimate gun shops and gun dealers doing business in Illinois.
In addition to my opposition to attempts to erode 2nd Amendment rights, I am strongly opposed to any piece of legislation that carves out exceptions for larger businesses that have the ability to lobby lawmakers into creating exemptions for themselves. In SB 1657, larger gun dealers are exempt from the provisions of the bill.
I am also fundamentally opposed to unfunded mandates, and the enactment of this bill would cost Illinois taxpayers $2.1 million just to launch the proposed program.
Please know that if this bill is brought to the floor of the House for a vote, I will certainly be voting no. Again, thanks for writing about this legislation. Please continue to reach out to me on state issues that are important to you.
Sincerely,
State Representative Tom Morrison - 54th

Vehicular hijackings in Chicago nearly doubled between 2015 and 2016 and are occurring with the same frequency this year.
“These carjackings are primarily crimes of opportunity,” Guglielmi said.
In 2012, 487 vehicular hijackings were reported across the city.
Over the next three years, that number fell to between 300 and 350.
Then, in 2016, the total shot up to 661, records show.
Records show that, between 2012 and 2016, weapons were used in 56 to 64 percent of all carjackings.
Chicago Police issued a community alert after seven carjackings, all on April 28, were reported in several North Side neighborhoods. Ten carjacking-related community alerts have been issued so far this year.
The Harrison District on the West Side has — by a wide margin — seen the most carjackings this year of any of the police department’s 22 districts, data show.
Through May 8, there were 48 reported vehicular hijackings, 32 of which involved a weapon.
The Grand Crossing District on the South Side and the Near West District each have seen 20 vehicular hijackings this year, records show.

The Detroit Free Press reports that Rep. Michele Hoitenga (R-Manton)–a sponsor of the permitless carry bill–suggested the only reason a permit exists is so the state government can collect fees for the exercise of natural rights.
Hoitenga said:
It is currently legal in the state of Michigan for a law-abiding person to openly carry a firearm on their person without any training classes, fees or state bureaucracy. It only becomes illegal when a person puts on a coat because the gun then becomes concealed. Our Second Amendment should not be used as a money grab for permit fees
Michigan Open Carry president Tom Lambert echoed Hoitenga, equating the fee for a concealed carry permit with a “coat tax.”
Presently, law-abiding Michigan residents have to pay about $100 to the state and take a class before being allowed to carry a concealed handgun for self-defense. This burdensome fee will be done away with if Hoitenga’s bill passes and is signed into law.

(CBS) – Backers of a controversial proposal to open a luxury gun club in suburban Willowbrook made major changes to the plan, but it didn’t satisfy village leaders.
They voted against the revised proposal, CBS 2’s Charlie De Mar reports.
For the second straight Willowbrook Village meeting, a packed and passionate group voiced their opinions about the gun facility that would break ground at Route 83 and 79th on long-vacant land.
Under the latest version, the club would not sell alcohol; would not provide machine guns for rental; and would not be open 24 hours a day.
Even without alcohol, some Willowbrook residents still worry about potential risks.
