The website features legislators, both old and new, who are linked to Madigan. The GOP implemented the strategy of exposing the links between the Democratic lawmakers and Madigan's political web of power in 2016. It was a successful effort that led to a Republican gain of six seats in the state House and Senate in last month's general election.
One of the first items on the agenda after the lawmakers are sworn into office in January is the selection of the speaker of the House. Madigan has held that position for 31 of his 45 years as a representative. As the speaker, he controls the House, including selecting the bills sent to committee and those brought to the floor for a vote.
Madigan also has served as chairman of the Illinois Democratic Party for nearly 20 years. He controls the party's finances and determines which candidates will receive campaign contributions.

Thousands of Second Amendment Supporters Will March on the Capitol in Springfield, IL!
Illinois Gun Owner Lobby Day
Prairie Capital Convention Center, Springfield, IL
Because several pro-Second Amendment legislators lost in the recent statewide election, we will have an uphill battle when the General Assembly returns to Springfield for the new session in 2017. Anti-rights legislators will be more determined than ever to disarm law-abiding citizens.
We know disarming innocent people does not make us safer. We know gun free zones are killing zones. It is important we lobby our legislators and Gov. Rauner. It is important that we voice our opposition to any further restrictions on our Second Amendment rights.
It's important that we voice our support for:
Less restriction on where we can carry, so we can better protect ourselves and our loved ones.
Reducing the cost of concealed carry licenses, which is too high for many to afford.
Reciprocity with other states in order to protect ourselves when we travel in those states.
Even if you have already received your carry license,
this is NOT the time to sit back and become lax!
Those who have taken the training and gone through the licensing process are crucial to the fight and we need you to stand with us and be heard at IGOLD!
Save the date! Be there!

During the lame duck session (Jan 9 and 10), only a majority is required to move SB206 to the Governor for signature. This is a very reachable goal.
However... we've heard this weekend that a few anti-gun senators are trying to strip some supporters off the bill to legalize suppressors. We need your help to encourage wavering senate votes to be on the right side and support SB206. Don't let the only calls they get be from Bloomberg-funded gun control advocates.
Please call their Springfield offices on Monday or Tuesday in support of SB206. Suppressors are supported by nearly every law enforcement agency statewide, they are a public health issue, and they simply are not used in crime. Illinois is one of only a handful of states that does not permit suppressors, and it's time we joined the rest of the nation and legalize these hearing protection devices."

"I am hosting a special class for women and girls with J.P. Wood Martial Arts America to promote self-defense and self-awareness. The event will be held on Thursday, January 26th, from 7-9PM. It will take place at J.P. Wood Martial Arts America at 249 E. Northwest Highway, in Palatine. The Portage County Sheriffs Office has a CCW class this week. The department offers the course three times a year. They started by providing two classes a year, but after a high interest in enrollment, they've increased the number to three sessions.

CHICAGO -- Chicago has lost another round in its effort to restrict the operation of gun ranges in the city.
A U.S. Court of Appeals on Wednesday held as unconstitutional ordinances restricting gun ranges to manufacturing areas in Chicago. The ordinances also placed limits on the distances they can be located in relation to residential areas, schools, parks and places of worship.
The court also ruled there was no justification for banning of anyone under 18 years from entering a gun range.
A city spokesman wasn't immediately available for comment on the court's ruling.
Chicago imposed a blanket ban on shooting ranges in 2010. The Court of Appeals struck down the ban in 2011, prompting the city council to pass ordinances accomplishing the same thing. The Second Amendment Foundation and others took the city to court over the ordinances in 2014.

SB009 started as a simple question of creating new taxes, a question too easily answered “yes” in this state. It is now more than that. Much more.
Senate Amendment 2 seeks to impose 5% membership and service taxes:
In addition to the amusement tax on ranges already imposed by several municipalities
In addition to the Cook County tax on firearms and ammunition
In addition to the proposed fees covering the cost of serializing ammunition under HB271
In addition to the already costly training and license fees required to carry a concealed firearm in Illinois
In addition to the cost of hunting licenses
In addition to current local, state and federal sales taxes on products associated with membership and use of hunting and gun clubs, training, and competition.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill (KWQC)- Two bills have been filed in the Illinois Legislature to repeal the Illinois Firearm Owner Identification Act.
Senate Bill 1324 was filed by State Senator Neil Anderson Thursday, and House Bill 0492 was filed last week to do the same.
“In my opinion, and the opinion of a lot of people, the FOID card is nothing more than a cash grab for the state of Illinois,” said Senator Anderson (R) of Moline.
The $10 card is required for anyone in the state if they own firearms or ammunition.
It was originally designed as a database of gun owners for the state. That list, though no longer public, still exists.
Senator Anderson says the law is redundant, and an infringement of Second Amendment rights.

A Southern Illinois state representative is pushing a plan to end the state's program to register and identify gun owners.
Representative Jerry Costello said the Firearm Owners ID program is losing money and creating more bureaucracy for lawful gun owners.
"It's very important to my constituents in downstate Illinois," Costello said.
Currently the FOID cards are needed to purchase and possess guns and buy ammunition. Applicants must submit to a background check.
Illinois State Police said there are over two million active card holders in the state and last year they revoked 11,000 cards.
Even without the FOID program, gun purchasers are still required to have background checks.

Not to be outdone, Rita Mayfield (D-Waukegan) has proposed a 3.75% sales tax on firearms and accessories. To add insult to injury, the money would be used to fund community based groups who would like to take your Second Amendment Rights. The fight is on in Illinois but if you look around, the left wing fascists are on the attack everywhere. When I (Executive Director) am asked why someone should join the ISRA, the answer is simple - because it is never over!

In a 5-2 ruling, Wisconsin’s Supreme Court found that the Madison County Transit’s current carry prohibition on their buses is illegal.
The ruling affirms the right of law-abiding passengers to carry a firearm for self-defense on Madison County buses, like they are currently allowed to do on buses run by other local transit agencies.
