CHRISTIAN COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - Tuesday night, Christian County board members voted to adopt a gun sanctuary resolution.
Five counties including Effingham, Jefferson, Saline, Perry and Iroquois have already adopted gun sanctuary resolutions. Christian County is now the sixth in the state.
Republican candidate for the Illinois Senate, Seth McMillan says he wants the whole state to abide by the same gun laws — as long as the second amendment is not being taken away.
"I'm excited we have a grass roots effort to show the legislators in Springfield we are tired as law abiding gun owners seeing our second amendments rights being rolled back," McMillan says.
The resolution passed unanimously Tuesday night, with all 16 board members voting yes. Vicki McMahon says she is not surprised by the vote.

Henry County opposes state actions restricting guns
http://qconline.com/news/local/govt-...658b58a11.html
CAMBRIDGE — The Henry County Board on Thursday unanimously opposed state laws that would infringe on Second Amendment right to bear arms.
Board chairman Roger Gradert thanked board member Jacob Waller for bringing the resolution to his attention.
However, Mr. Waller’s amendment to the resolution that would have made Henry County a sanctuary county for firearms owners did not appear headed for the same success.
At one point Mr. Waller changed the wording of his amendment, replacing the term “sanctuary” with “constitutional rights protective county.”

Illinoisans Fleeing State by Tens of Thousands over Taxes and Financial Loss
http://www.breitbart.com/big-governm...inancial-loss/
Illinois is losing more citizens than nearly every other state, and according to reports, the biggest reason citizens are leaving is that they can no longer afford to live in the Land of Lincoln.
Certainly, Americans move from place to place for a large variety of reasons. From new jobs, to schooling, to weather and family, Americans are a people motivated by the need for change. But in Illinois, one of the major reasons to seek a change of venue is because the state is simply taxing them out of their homes, according to Chicago’s WGN TV.
According to reports, Illinois alone lost 33,703 citizens to outward migration last year. In 2016, the state lost another 37,508 people. A report by the Chicago Tribune also noted that Chicago has been a net loser of its citizens for the last three years running. And the surrounding county was also a net loser of its population.

Gun-rights advocacy groups are asking a Lake County Circuit Court judge to bar the village of Deerfield from enforcing its ban on assault weapons that is set to kick in June 13.
The ordinance enacted April 2 by the Deerfield Village Board gives residents until June 13 to turn in any guns that fit the village’s definition of assault weapons, remove them from the village or modify the guns so they’re no longer considered assault weapons. The ordinance empowers the town’s police chief to confiscate the assault weapons of anyone charged under the ordinance.
A hearing to consider the restraining order motions is set for June 8, just days before the ban is set to take effect.
“The fast-approaching compliance date compels plaintiffs to seek more immediate and intermediate relief until this matter can be fully heard on the merits,” said attorney David Sigale in a petition on behalf of Deerfield gun owner Daniel Easterday, the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) and the Second Amendment Foundation.
Sigale’s petition notes that Deerfield residents in possession of the those weapons face prosecution, confiscation and destruction of their property and hefty monetary fines.

On May 30th, the Illinois state Senate voted 43-11 to pass a bill containing egregious violations of your rights. House Amendment 2 to House Bill 2354 allows Second Amendment rights to be revoked without due process. Please contact Governor Bruce Rauner and ask him to VETO HA 2 to HB 2354. DEERFIELD, Ill. — Gun-rights groups want a judge to block the northern Chicago suburb of Deerfield from enforcing its ban on certain semi-automatic guns.
A Lake County judge has scheduled a June 8 hearing on a request for a temporary restraining order against the ban that’s scheduled to take effect June 13.

I am editing the original post below. Based on additional information that others have found, it looks like the ISRA jumped the gun on this. It appears that Bill Kay Chevrolet is not associated with this gun grabbing group and that it is very unfortunate that the gun grabbers used Bill Kay as a waypoint to help people find their fundraiser. May the fundraiser be a spectacular flop.
Looks like Bill Kay has decided to not be a friend to the Illinois gun owner. I'll be taking my business elsewhere, hope you choose to do the same until they change their stance.
From the Illinois State Rifle Association:
URGENT ALERT – YOUR ACTION REQUIRED
WEST SUBURBAN AUTO DEALERSHIP TO HOST GUN CONTROL FUND RAISER
A west suburban auto dealership will be holding a benefit “car wash” to support gun control legislation that, if passed, promises to empty your gun safe. Bill Kay Chevrolet, located on Ogden Avenue in Lisle, will be the site of the June 16th car wash. The event will reportedly kick off at Noon and end around 3:00 PM.
The beneficiary of the Bill Kay event is a cell of extremist gun controllers based in Naperville, IL. The radical group is known for organizing harassment activities against attendees of the DuPage Gun Show and for inciting near-riot conditions during a raucous anti-constitution, anti-freedom demonstration in Downers Grove last March. The gun control group has, as its objective, the banning and confiscation of your lawfully-acquired firearms.
As law-abiding gun owners, we shouldn’t be supporting businesses or other organizations that support and sustain attacks on our 2nd Amendment rights. The Bill Kay Auto Group has chosen to align itself with the gun controllers in their war against your rights as an American citizen. Bill Kay Auto Group’s overt support for gun control should carry consequences.
The Bill Kay Auto Group operates a number of dealerships throughout the Chicagoland area. Those dealerships represent a variety of brands – not just Chevrolet. So, the next time you go shopping for a vehicle, or when booking auto maintenance, remember that Bill Kay is not your friend. Vote with your feet – shop elsewhere.
WHAT YOU CAN DO TO SAVE YOUR GUN RIGHTS…
1. Post this alert to any and all Internet and social media groups to which you belong.
2. Pass this alert on to your family and friends.
3. Support the struggle to preserve your innate liberties.

Bill Kay responded on their Facebook page. Interesting.
Recently, we became aware of an article informing the public of a car wash in support of a Naperville gun control group.
We, here at the Bill Kay Auto Group, have never taken a side on the issue of gun ownership. We are NOT affiliated with any gun control groups nor are we hosting or planning to host any car wash related events.
We appreciate your continued support and will follow up with details as soon as possible.

I hope that is right. Seems like they should stick to the business of selling cars and not get involved in political issues. I'll keep an eye out for the Illinois State Rifle Association to respond to the facebook post and I'll add it if it comes through.
Thanks,

Some of the students from Parkland will be there. We will have the League of Women Voters to register people to vote. We will be near 355 & Ogden in Lisle. We are behind Bill Kay Chevrolet on Ogden. Just Google that & you will see our signs & will be able to find us."

Glad to hear this, I'll edit my original post. Surprised that the ISRA would have put this out without verifying.
