Please help our cause!

and I am a hardcore 1911 A1 .45 guy, although also really like my Beretta 92fs 9mm. If someone ends up in my home who is a threat however, its the .45 I'm going for
and I recommend one of each.
9mm is certainly cheaper to fire at the range (ammo wise) but you just can't beat 230 grains of full metal jacket hunk of metal that a .45 auto spits out. Time to take the plunge ton of GREAT options for you, and I can recommond the best online gunsights to get your best deals on guns.
First thing you will need if you don't have already, is to apply for your FOID card with IL, asap, b/c you can't do nothing without it. Article II In Lombard is the best local gun range in town and I have spent some good time there the last 2 months. Also took their State of Utah Carry Conceal Class and should be receiving my State of Utah Carry Conceal Permit in about one month, which will allow me to FINALLY carry conceal in 32 states (but of course not IL).
Enjoy and congrats on your upcoming retirement (I'm jealous).

SWEEEEETTTTTTT, talk about a keepsake invaluable pistol, nothing like having your Dad's original Colt 1911 A1 .45 from WWII. Now that's what I'm talking about!

If you want a solid recommendation on a great gunsmith and gunshop owner to also break down said Colt 1911, I have the perfect guy in Melrose Park (my FFL dealer who owns a gun shop).
Call Don at Suburban Sporting Goods in Melrose Park on North Ave, immediately east of Al Piemonte Ford. Tell him Jimmy the Attorney referred you, he will be glad to help you out he's a great guy and old school gun nut with LOTS of knowledge on that exact pistol.
He will Probably charge you only $20 or so to also break open the gun, clean and lubricate it, possibly test fire it, and give it a clean bill of health!

OKAY, back on immediate topic, Bob, when's the next Townhall Meeting (no hoodies allowed please).

Congratulations to our friends at the Second Amendment Foundation.
The Federal Court got it wrong in Moore, but two recent cases won by SAF, show that the Second Amendment does NOT end at your doorstep.
A recent Federal case in Maryland and now this federal case in North Carolina buttress each other, that the Second Amendment's Core Right extends outside the home.
The Illinois legislature should stop dragging their feet as the only state in the Union that does not alow some form of concealed carry outside the home, or risk losing the UUW / AUUW Statutes in the pending litigation of Shepard v Madigan, or the appeal of Moore v Madigan.
Call your legislators today and let them know that if a court strikes down the UUW / AUUW statutes, that you will not support regressing Illinois from a Constitutional Carry state to one that requires the Government's permission.
The time to pass Concealed Carry in Illinois is now, House Bill 148 has the support of Law Enforcement and firearms rights advocates. Pass it NOW.
Here you go Jimmy!

The New York City mayor replied by denouncing the law, and included his "you're better off not having a gun" point:
BLOOMBERG: Well, it doesn't make any sense because you don't want people being vigilantes. They don't have the training; they don't have the expertise; there is no oversight. That's the police department's job. And all the statistics show if you, for example, have a gun at home, you're something like 22 times more likely to be killed by a gun. You picture this: somebody's banging on your door and says, I'm going to come in and kill you, and you say, wait a second: let me find the gun. Where did I put the ammunition? Where did I put the key? And this guy's got the gun out and you're (unintelligible) You're better off not having a gun.

D.C' s deputy mayor for public safety and justice - “The problem is, if you are armed, it escalates the situation,” Mr. Quander told residents. “It is much better, in my opinion, to be scared, to be frightened, and even if you have to be, to be injured, but to walk away and survive. You’ll heal, and you can replace whatever was taken away.”

When I had my gangrene gallbladder taken out and spent 10 days in the hospital for what should have been an overnight stay the insurance company kicked me out. I had home nurse visits for two weeks and was asked if I had guns in the house. I respond that if I did I would not tell them. So the below has some merit.FYI, I am passing this along...there are comments from two other people I have also been asked if we keep guns in the house. The nurse just kinda slipped it in along with all the other regular questions. I told her I refused to answer because it was against the law to ask. Everyone, whether you have guns or not, should give a neutral answer so they have no idea who does and who doesn't. My doctor asked me if I had guns in my house and also if any were loaded. I, of course, answered yes to both questions. Then he asked why I kept a loaded gun close to my bed. I answered that my son, who is a certified gun instructor and also works for Homeland Security, advised me that an unloaded, locked up gun is no protection against criminal attack. The Government now requires these questions be asked of people on Medicare, and probably everyone else. Just passing this along for your information: I had to visit a doctor other than my regular doctor when my doctor was on vacation.. One of the questions on the form I had to fill out was: Do you have any guns in your house?? My answer was None of your damn business!! So it is out there! It is either an insurance issue or government intervention. Either way, it is out there and the second the government gets into your medical records (as they want to under Obamacare) it will become a major issue and will ultimately result in lock and load!! Please pass this on to all the other retired guys and gun owners...Thanks, from a Vietnam Vet and retired Police Officer: I had a doctors appointment at the local VA clinic yesterday and found out something very interesting that I would like to pass along. While going through triage before seeing the doctor, I was asked at the end of the exam, three questions:1. Did I feel stressed? 2. Did I feel threatened? 3. Did I feel like doing harm to someone? The nurse then informed me, that if I had answered yes to any of the questions, I would have lost my concealed carry permit as it would have gone into my medical records and the VA would have reported it to Homeland Security. Looks like they are going after the vets first. Other gun people like retired law enforcement will probably be next. Then when they go after the civilians, what argument will they have? Be forewarned and be aware. The Obama administration has gone on record as considering veterans and gun owners potential terrorists. Whether you are a gun owner, veteran or not, YOU"VE BEEN WARNED ! If you know veterans and gun owners, please pass this on to them. Be very cautious about what you say and to whom.

So no need to bother with that pesky FOID card application or cumbersome Chicago gun registration stuff, I guess?
BTW, they have yet to return his firearm (or should I say in this case “weapon")…
