What did you guys use to cover the holes in the firewall? Pop rivet in some sheet metal or something?
Make sure you seal it up very well!! On two occassions this year, I have had car fires under my dash due to oil getting past the firewall. The first fire was on the passenger side and my fire system could not reach where the flames were. In fact, S&R had to pull the dash back (not fun to watch) to get the fire out. The second one was on the drivers side... I can't stress enough how important it is to make sure the firewall 100% sealed up.
PS - very nice cage and great price, thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Alex. I hear you on sealing the holes. I am hopeful that I used more than enough epoxy (enough to push out on the edges) and then I riveted each panel for extra measure.
I finally made some measurable progress again. Side view mirror, rear view mirror, cutoff switch terminal covers, driver net, and some other misc stuff are completed. I had to make some brackets in order to mount the rear view mirror to my liking. And BJ made us a bracket for mounting the forward point of the driver net. I am still not happy with the rear mounting, but I have it the best I can feel with safety.
On the plate today is exhaust wrap and tunnel shielding.
I spent about two hours several nights ago wiping down every surface inside the car. It was filthy from last years dirt and dust/welding debris from the shop.
