TTT on my car and at this point, I am a "couldnt care less" guy.. but I gotta say I'm very impressed! Interesting thread for sure. I'm curious now as to what "flame polishing" is and wondering if that would be applicable to a plastic dash lens that has be sanded with very fine grit. Have you contacted all the Vendors to try and sell larger orders of these? Again, fantastic job!
Very creative and nearing original product/quality. But, now residing in TN and being second-cousin to 'Bubba', I have to ask...why not just put an appropriately-sized glob of two-part clear epoxy on each side of the empty hole? Within a year, it will be yellowed just like the remaining original rivets.

This is why this forum is the best. Alan71 I believe is our resident expert on most anything C3. (I know you don't like the title Alan) but you deserve it. BTW, I've seen your car somewhere, Did you have it at the NCRS judging meet way back in 2004 in Wildwood, NJ ?
$20 PLUS shipping! wow that is on the pricey side for sure.
I do realize you're not able to just pump these puppies out though, still seems a bit high. I need a set actually but for the diff I will go with the $10 ones from retailers.
Hi RPO,
I guess it all comes down to whether "appears to be original" matters to you or not. For most people it doesn't matter this much, but for a few this is a fastener that just hasn't been available and is another piece of the restoration.
Regards,
Alan
Original air cleaner wing-nuts, original seat shim bags, original keys with the punch-out still in place, engine suffix labels, owner's manuals with the Corvette News card still in place, wiper motor labels... and on and on!

The proof reader in the house wouldn't be very happy.............
Hi WB,
Nice to know someones out there!
I still have to ask all the time if it's grey or gray, and does the period go inside or outside the parenthesis... (outside). Unless it's internal documentation with a blocked quote. I have no idea what that means!!!!
SNOW???

Alan

Did the new car go to Florida?
No hijack Buddy the rivets do seem to have a market out there, I would talk to the parts suppliers!
Alan,
You know colons and semi colons are above me
My son and I did spend a few days in the sun (some rain too), with the LT1. It went very well! Off to Charlotte I hope!
My opinion means no more, and probably less, than anyone else on this forum, but, I would like to say your repro rivets are really nice. My good friend, Stan Falenski, installed a set on my 69 GM ignition shielding and I could not be happier. I am an NCRS Master Level Judge (for what that's worth) and the engine compartment judge (following in the footsteps of Stan Falenski and Dick Whittington) at Bloomington Gold and I can tell you this a major leap forward in regards to these rivets.
Thank you for taking the time to accurately reproduce them. Now, how about doing the opaque shield on the underside...

Mark, I'm an ncrs member also and I am getting a set from buddy when he makes this next batch.
we all know the rivets are very close but how about the washers he is including? are those correct and like the originals?
I ask because when I had my 68 l36 pieces re-chromed they cut the rivets etc and I didn't receive any of that stuff back.
So, I have nothing to compare his setup to.
they did give me the plastic clear like shield back (had no clue it was there until they mentioned the rivets and shield) but they slighty messed it up getting it off!
Hi W1717,
The washers that came with the sets of rivets I bought from Buddy a while ago were a bit too small in diameter compared to the originals. It was noticable. I used the old washers; they also seemed to match the used plastic shield better too (the didn't look too new).
There are so many old distributor covers around that I'll bet you know someone that would give you the washers, and un-messed up shield, from an original cover that's too dinged-up to restore, to use with you new rivets and re-chromed cover.
Big Fun!!
Regards,
Alan
