Hi Brad

I have been discussing with Global West.

Even with the original suspension if you lower the car over 1.5" you start to put some twist on the end links.

Where I have it at present is with the bar flipped, 6mm spacers under the mounts and cut down end links.

With the car down low its always going to be hard to get it aligned well. Not having it parallel to the arm will probably make it less effective but not much I can do.

I will look around for a 1" or 1 1/4" bar with flatter end tabs :-)

Has been a while since i spent some time on the paintwork so I washed the Vette, removed the luggage rack and got started.

This was the process i followed.

Medium, Cut followed by Mothers 3 part process.

Used a small handheld for fine areas and DA for medium correction. (Only for first polish, remainder by hand)

Sort of don't mind it without the luggage rack....

May look to try it with some plugs in the holes at some stage.

Hi Craig,
Your car looks terrific as usual.
It always has a such a 'well tended' look about it.
The stance is really excellent to my eye.
Regards,
Alan

I had a luggage rack on my car for many years. I was really pleased once it was gone!
To have or not have one should not be such a big decision… it's a shame dealing with those small holes is such an involved job.

A few shots from the local Summernats 30 event in Canberra.

Over 2000 car entrants over 5 days.

Mix of all sorts, not many Vette's though :-)

This is the city cruise with 300 cars down the main streets.

Hi Craig,
Your car REALLY stands out!!!
You must be really pleased to be able to take it to an event like that and have it be so special even among all those cars!
Nice Work!
Regards,
Alan

Jensen Interceptor?

Holden Monaro. One of my favourite Aussie muscle cars. I think that's an HG, with an HK Monaro behind? I always find it a bit difficult to remember the subtleties between hg/hk/ht Monaros, but I'm sure Craig can tell us.

Thanks Alan

I must say I feel very inferior in the Horsepower department at this event.

Without a blown and injected engine its hard to stand our :-)

Yes there were 2 Jensen Interceptors there this year. An amazingly large and complex piece of rear glass.

I recall when i was a kid hearing about one that had to sit in the dealer for a very long time waiting for a new rear glass to come from overseas after the rear glass got smashed

Yes one of my favourites as well and there were quite a few there ranging from bone stock to drag race versions for the street.

Wish I owned one of this vintage but unfortunately not.

They ran HK, HT, HG and the most obvious external differences were grill and tail lights. Inside the HK had a different dash to the later ones.

First generation (1968–1971) HK 68, HT 69, HG 70

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_Monaro

Worth a pretty penny nowadays.

The early one (HK) that caught my eye was this one

Hi Craig,
That's GOT to be a rare piece of glass!
I remember when the Interceptor was new but am reminded of it now because we watch the BBC series "The Inspector Linley Mysteries" and that's what he drives!
I'm serious… your car really does stand out! The chase for hp is expensive.
Regards,
Alan

Had an issue with the drivers door where it would not open in certain cases.

So I removed the door panel and after playing around for a while i found that the outer handle lever was sticking even though handle was returning to normal position.

Removed handle, lock etc and cleaned them up and gave them some lithoium grease and put it all back together.

As is always the way i ended up with a slight chip in the trim so stripped and repainted it as well.

Will put it all back together when the paint has had some time to set up.

Door handle fitting all dry. (Can expose the chrome letters now)

But ended up repainting the remaining door trim to get the satin blacks to match better.

Once dry I can fit it all back up.

Cleaned off the text with a razor blade. May need a little more clean up.

There can sometimes be a rattle when shutting the door and the glass is not 100% fully down so I added a foam stop at the bottom to hold it when down.

Made from the foam used in pool noodles.

Also added some foam tube at the top corner where the rods attach to lock as it can rattle as well.
