It did not feel that cold out this morning, we did not have any wind. I really hate getting use to the cold. Last week I was walking around Chicago with -5 to -10 temps and a hard wind on top of that. You have to love the weather guys it's -5 but feels like -30 ~ no it feels like death.

And the Eskimos are falling down laughing at all of us! I just "got back" from the P.R.C. Forum.....needed to do some "foaming at the mouth"....as we say down South.
Well....."I'm off"........to bring the hardtop to the painter.....
will be back later to finish the soft top install (for the umpteenth time).

The painter said the hood and hardtop would be ready Friday! At least when I open the door and while I'm driving I'll have the illusion of a fully painted car

Plans "got" changed......but I did a little more on the soft top...it was too cold to stretch the material all the way so I had to stop short of locking the front bow down onto the windshield header.
The pair of tension cables that I forgot about earlier were installed this morning (one shown)......mechanic's fingers feeds the cable through the soft top pocket........
The frame finally folds enough so that the material can be glued/stapled to the front bow..........
I will install all the window weatherstrip pieces that also hold the top to the frame sides......

I managed to sneak into the garage for a short while today after catching up on some home repairs. The top material warmed up a little and I was able to start installing the window weatherstrip pieces....
Even though the front edge of the material is not glued down and the latches are not engaged yet, the window fits fairly close to the weatherstrip.....

Thanks Men! I could finish all the remaining repairs/replacements in a weeks time but the PTSD doesn't let that happen
After the convertible top install is complete I want to replace the '76 tail light panel/clip with the used '69 clip that I found last year.....
I've never done body work before....so this should be fun making the car look like the '68 that it was originally.
Hi DG ,putting the rear clip on will start to make your car really start looking like the year car it is. No offense. I have been getting a lot of body work instructions from some posts I put in the "body and paint area. Never knew it was there. Exciting times for you!!!

I'll definitely start reading it to have an idea about where to start....it's "gonna be" nerve-racking cutting roughly 10" off the rear of the car and then fitting the correct tail light "clip"!
I drilled 1/8" diameter holes every 6" from underneath the car on the aft side of the body bonding seam where the '76 panel was attached by the previous owner....then I scribed a line in the paint along the deck and fenders using the 1/8" holes as a guide because the joint was filled in previously.
This...........
Needs to look like this............
As I've always said about my thread---it's ...."The RVZIO THREAD IN REVERSE!

As of this last Monday......tomorrow is the scheduled completion day!
But I haven't been calling him to find if it has changed............
SINCE IT HAS RAINED DAY AND NIGHT SINCE TUESDAY
He's only 4 miles down the road, so I'll drive there tomorrow and see if the rain put a hold on Friday.
In the meantime...I need to get in that garage and finish the last bits of installation of the convertible assembly and then post some pics of the finished restored product!
I had to make a bracket that was missing on the underside of the front bow....the passengers bow latch had nothing to bolt to.
I also cleaned 47 years of dust/grime off the chrome hardware...each latch had 3-4 small pits in the chrome but there was no flaking on either latch or the guide pins......
The driver's latch and pin are in place....I will have to install the fabricated bracket on the passenger's side tomorrow....
By the time I was ready for the glue to be spread (11:30 p.m.) it was too cold in the garage for the glue to set and cure....I will have to wait until tomorrow and let some sun/warmth into the garage.....
