Isnt the front clip the easy part of the conversion? I thought they were very similar until 80? Priya, quarantine is the best time to drag it out and start again!
Sorry to hear it Priya! Motivation is something that just has to come from inside, if it isn't there... well, the project sits. Get that thing painted Bright Blue like mine (you said you like my color) and drive it for a while. That always helps motivation, when you can drive the dang thing! I hope you find some motivation!
So, another six months gone by and nothing done on the Corvette. Yes, its in storage but I have a number of small pieces I could have worked on and didn't. Looking back, I wish I had just stuck a couple of pace car spoilers on it and been done. I couldn't sleep last night thinking about what its going to take to finish it off and how long that might be. So, I'm thinking of leaving the 79 front clip on it and just finishing off the rear end. As far as I know I have all the pieces to finish off the 69 front end except for the front clip. I could sell all those and get some money back to help out with the budget which is down to $3500 out of which still needs to come a paint job and the front clip, to say nothing of all the vortec/tpi pieces I bought to upgrade the engine.
This makes a lot of sense. You have done such a great job - time to get it out on the road!

I've been thinking since the start the front end was the easier part of the conversion, that's why I started with the rear first. But recently I've been thinking about how hard it is to get things lined up properly and that the front end is going to involve a great deal of getting things lined up and it might be more work than I've been thinking.

Priya:
But, you're halfway there!!
I've always watched and admired your work and the updates! But then, I would not attempt to do what you've done anymore!
Today there are a couple companies that make the parts to accomplish this much easier than the method that priya took, unfortunately in this situation its probably easier if she continues down the path she started than backtracking and starting again with a couple kit parts that are available today. Imho you've come this far, finish the rear, put a coat of primer on it and enjoy it, once the itch gets you start the front clip conversion.
In hindsight the lesson I take from this is finish what can be easily accomplished first so that when you hit the hump you're at a much higher level of completion. Hopefully that pushes the hump further down the project and makes it easier to find the motivation to continue and complete the project.
Priya I hope you find it in you to complete and enjoy your masterpiece, you deserve it after the work you put into this so far!

Well, I've got until I get the rear end finished to decide. I've got almost all the stuff so it would be kind of a shame to sell it all now at a loss. I might install the lighter suspension springs and 5 speed manual after the rear is done and see how I feel about it then.

Thanks for the encouragement sunnym. You're right, it wouldn't make sense now to try to go to a bolt on kit as the rear is 90-95% done. I'm of the opposite mind from you on doing the easy stuff first. I like to start on the worst part while my motivation is highest and I'm fresh. That way when I'm done the worst and my motivation is flagging I can tell myself the worst is over and the end more in sight. It's been over 4 years I've been working on this to be halfway done although I've lost a year or a year and a half to hubby wanting his garage for the winter.
You did the hard part! You can always do the front later. On or not at all. I think the rear 68-73 clip is what makes the car look special.
Get some paint on it and drive it this suumer....other mods can be done when you feel the urge.

Well, if I'm going to do half of it, probably better the rear half than the front half
Wow , good to see your still with us !
Either way if you just finish the back or you also do the front to match ultimately the only person you have to please will be you !
If you choose to stop with just the back completed unless you just need the money hold on to the front end parts long enough to make certain that your not going to attempt go further ! At least that way you won’t change you mind in 6 months and have to buy everything all over again ! JM2cents
No matter what you have been an incredible inspiration to some of us !

If it were me, I would just tear into it to the point of no return. Decision made to eliminate time wasting procrastination and certain regret. Knowing what I know, looks like the front would be more difficult.
Wow Pryia,
You have been working so hard to complete your project the way you want and your attention to detail has been amazing to watch.
I think if you short change yourself and don’t complete your project to be exactly what you envisioned at the beginning, you will never be happy with it.
Now is the time to work on something else for your project that can get your mind off the front end and focus on something else which will get you closer to completion and motivate you to finish your front end the way you envisioned it.
I purchased my 73 almost 4 years ago and although I’ve collected a ton of parts, I haven’t turned a wrench to start my restomod.
Keep moving forward and soon this I can’t do it attitude will be behind you and you’ll be back doing the amazing work we have had the pleasure to watch and be apart of.
