TPI don't rev. They are low rpm torque motors. But the intake is pretty.

The conventional wisdom is that they are good for something like 4200 to 4400 rpm. I selected my parts based on this 383 vortec/tpi build on thirdgen.com:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/afte...-tpi-dyno.html

His 383 pulled to 6000 rpm so I'm hoping by basing my parts selection on his build I'll be able to turn similar rpm numbers. Everyone says it can't be done, but there you have it. The pretty engine is one of the reason I chose TPI.

I had an 88 trans am built by John lingenfelter it made 450 horsepower with a TPI without the super ram manifold . It did have bigger runners and a ported base and plenum. That car was very fast in it's day.
Oh Priya I sent Don an email to contact you.

On July 4th we finally got my 79 back into the garage. My husband was off work for a couple of months but we got nothing at all done, not that we didn't plan to. Ward likes to get started working in the morning starting as early as 6:00 AM. Me, I don't like to get started until 2 or 3 PM. By that time Ward is sleeping on the couch in front of the TV and its hard to get him out the door. I find it hard to get started working on anything so knowing Ward is sitting inside on the couch relaxing makes it even harder to get out the door so we both end up doing nothing on his time off. Mind you I could (and I suppose probably should) get up with him at 5:00 AM and be ready to start work in an hour but...that's pretty tough for me, lol.

I finished filling and shaping the exhaust filler panel around the corner bumper mount. The filler was getting pretty thick around where the blue arrow is so I didn't add enough there to make a smooth transition - it'll be covered by the bumper anyway.

I got the last bumper bracket done on the passenger side. I have the same two shown in the picture below left to do on the driver's side. I'm pretty sure I can finish them both off in less than two weeks, maybe less than one week

I painted all the passenger side bumper brackets purple, or at least that was the plan. I had two little cans of purple paint and when I went to the second one it wouldn't spray so I ended up finishing them with a blue. They all look black except in direct sunlight. I'll paint the driver's side a light colour, probably the Cat yellow my husband has laying around. This way when the bumper brackets come off in the future it won't be such a jigsaw puzzle figuring out which bracket goes on which side.

Just to make sure, I tried fitting the passenger side bumper once again with all the finished bumper brackets in place, everything still lines up:

The inner bracket that goes to the lower part of the bumper (blue arrow) was a pretty big pain in the *** to get aligned as you have to bolt it to the bumper first and feed it through the hole in the exhaust filler panel, hold the bumper in place and see if it lines up to the hole in the frame cross member. Quite a bit of trial and error to get that one lined up.

On the bracket with the red arrow I know there's a rubber washer that I think goes on the outside of the quarter panel between the quarter panel and the bumper. Should I have some kind of rubber washer or sheet of rubber on the other bumper mounting points as well?

I've given more thought to finishing the front end in the 68/69 style and I'm going to stick with the original plan. Just from the standpoint of being environmentally responsible I can't justify selling all these parts I've collected to do the job and then ship them all over North America yet again. So, whatever it takes, I'm going to finish it off as planned

Yep, that sounds pretty much like us. We're hopelessly out of sync!

Great work as usual...and you must be mellowing out on the tiny details....good for you!

I wouldnt sell all those front end parts either....finish the rear end...relax and drive it some to enjoy the work you put into it....the front end will still be there

your front bumper. orig urethane or replacement glass? if glass, you willing to cut it up? your nose can do a decent chrome conversion except that the strip in front of headlights will be 3/4 instead of 3/8ths inch wide. and the air tank does not have to be scrapped for the crossmember, frame extensions, horse shoe, etc.

It's the original urethane.

then you can use it to pull molds for the center piece and a small strip on each side. the bottom corners will need some work to change the curve to match the hockey sticks. i tried to find another piece of grille trim that fit our opening, but had no luck. came close with 08-12 malibu.

Maybe you two can work out a 'deal' when you want to get something done on the C3: You'll get up and ready by 9am, if he will leave a time window to work with your from 9am to ???

He's a "guy". Just tell him that you need him present to oversee and offer constructive guidance in addition to the extra 'hands on deck'. Isn't that how women get men to do what they want most of the time???

From what I've seen her do on this forum she may just be slowed down by the help.

A comprise! That sounds like a pretty good idea

It's actually the Eagle in my avatar that I wanted help on. Hubby does the mechanical and I do the bodywork. The Eagle was in the garage all winter. I took it for a drive last October and the steering was quite erratic so hubby bought every front end steering and suspension parts. We were going to put those in while the Corvette was in storage but we couldn't sync up our work times to do it.
