But the come along method would give you a quick feasibility study without any real expense or mods to garage wall or floor. And maybe a back-up in case you get it halfway in on the ice.

I'll make sure its ready the first time we take the car out of the garage when there's snow on the ground.

That's really something. It'd be great to see more pictures of your work as you've done it if you have them.

Especially pics of the rear. And you used bumper flange? So you basically built 72 spoiler and tail light panel onto a 75-up glass bumper? We want details.

Actually there is a guy here in Florida that makes a kit like the rear, he has a more stock front end. Nice job.

Wow, that looks great! That helps me again feel like I've made the right choice to do this to my 79.

I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy seeing you start a thread on your project if you have more to share.

I am especially interested in the details of creating the bumper "cover". I have a taillight panel and bumpers-brackets. Torn between Priya's and doorguner's method of cutting and glassing and killing a new glass rear bumper by creating this type setup. I am assuming if you kept bumper flange intact, you essentially created a 68-73 tail panel on a 75-up bumper cover. I have a busted-to-crap front bumper I am gonna try the other end with, but I also have a complete 71 nose

I'm not sure how he/she did that but the tricky part is the horizontal character line midway up the quarter panel just above the rear bumper and going forward. On C3s this line starts mid way on the quarter panel just behind the rear wheel opening.. On the chrome bumper cars it moves backwards close to paralell with the ground while on the rubber bumper cars it rises more as it moves back to the rear bumper. So, those two character line differences between chrome and rubber bumper cars have to merged somehow, I'm curious how that was done.

This is cool.
Please start a thread of your project.
Now think of the possibility of doing a split rear window.
I would love to do a chrome front bumper on my 73.

Looks good to me.....I too am in favor of a separate thread. I have been enjoying Priya's work on her car. Can't hurt to see another in progress!

Here is a quicky chrome conversion on a 73. He bought a glass front cover and cut it and sectioned it to be close to a 68-72 grille opening. And it is bolt-on. Can put the original stuff back on. Here is the thread about the car that the car's owner joined the forum so he could chime in. He has a lot more pics and doesn't mind discussing the job. https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...nt-bumper.html

"Don" hes good people..

I believe something to point out is dons "kit" is made to bolt on the only one like that, although some glass in dons part.

What it apoears to me pzark is doing is another version of what priya is doing involving a lot of glass work, bonding, filling, smoothing etc,
Not "bolt on" by a lot more than a few degrees, and far from easy to reverse but why would anyone want to go back, this looks blows away stock.

Its always interesting and my mind engages when people solve the same issue in very different ways yet all end up with a great end result.

Okay, bats highjack over,

Yes, start a thread. I'd like to know more about the fiberglass work on the nose of your Corvette.

I actually have yet to decide on the blue. If I do it will be 2015 or so Ford Blue Candy Metallic. If not the blue, then House of Kolor's Hot Pink Pearl. My clear first choice is the colour below, but I haven't found anyone that has a code for it and I don't have the money to continue painting test panels to get it so my first choice is pretty much ruled out.

I'll try to get you a picture of the back end of my 79 as it is now. Despite a lot of work, not much has changed visually, lol !

Are you in a position to keep working on it, or is it put away and shop turned over to the spousal unit for the very short mild winters you experience in Saskatoon?
