How you doing the front? Whole aftermarket clip, or fabbing a front bumper lip on 79 nose? Tony (DG) and I have already put some thought-work into plan B.

Priya you are doing a great job on this car. I was following along to see it done so I can do it to my 80. Unfortunately I don't have my 80 anymore. I got a good deal on a 72 and traded in the 80 along with some cash for it. I guess that's one project I won't have to worry about now.
That is actually the best way to do chrome bumper conversion! You even get the year changed on the title... edit. I didn't realize I jumped to a diff thread and just responded to a year old post. Oh well. Still valid...

Would you just hurry up and finish this project. I want to see the end results which will be stunning.
Patience my dear, patience.
I'm having a hard time getting motivated to sand underneath the car in the gas tank area as its such miserable work and its making my face itch something terrible. After I'm done that I think I'll pick up some speed.
I didn't think it would make the car much faster, then I realized you meant more progress. Get some kind of face mask. Pillowcase with holes even. With goggles on top.

I've tried various goggles, safety glasses, face shields, but the all fog up in about 30 seconds and I can't see. Plus you have to wipe the sanding dust off them every 15 seconds or so. There doesn't seem to be anything to do but suffer through it.

I don't know if they have a Harbor Freight store there but they have a sandblast hood that will keep all that off your face , head and shoulders! All you need to do is keep an air blower close at hand and blow the dust off the glass in the hood ! That allowed me to sit and sandblast the whole bottom of my car and only stop once in a while to take it out and polish the glass from it getting sandblasted! You shouldn't have that problem with sanding dust ! It should just blow off with ease !
I do have a couple of sandblasting hoods but I've had the same problem with them that I've had with the goggles, etc. - it fogs up inside and I can't see what I'm doing. That's not as big a problem when sandblasting as one doesn't really need to see that well to do it and there's no real concern over removing too much material or getting it flat and even like there is with sanding.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it too. I was keen on painting the car hot pink but I haven't been able to get quite as deep a shade of it as I'd like. I've also been considering the late model Ford Blue Candy Metallic. I have a test panel painted that colour and it doesn't look that special on the test panel but I keep seeing cars when I'm out and about painted that colour and it always looks sooo good to me, in both sunlight and overcast days. A lot of colours look great in direct sunlight but not as nice on a cloudy day so this one seems unusual in that way. I thought a lot about it and I think the silver interior is going to go a lot better with the Blue Candy Metallic than the hot pink, so I'm leaning towards that colour now:
That is the color of the Ford logo. I went thru about 35 Mustangs back in the day. Bought for 200, sold for 1500. So I don't consider that color as something from the dark side. But many here would consider that color blasphemy on a Vette. There are Vette blues from the chrome era that are close. https://www.google.com/search?q=ford...2rNFyMYYn_nHmM

The Ford logos I've seen are all more of a navy blue, which I dislike. The Blue Candy Metallic is more of a bright blue, or electric blue. Next time you're out, look at the newer Fords painted blue, the picture doesn't really do it justice.

,
I keep forgetting the climate is different for people not living in Florida! What might help the glass are the wipes that stop eyeglasses from fogging!
I like the blue! Used to do a lot of stripe work using a Ford Bright Blue !
Tomorrow I'll take a pic of the color on my brothers Vette and see if you like it ! It's a 2000 something Corvette Blue and looks great in or out of the sun ! I'll post the paint code for you when I put the pic up for you !
I would have had all the nasty work inside of the car in the gas tank area leveled and feathered out today but then the above happened. So, a bit more laminating on the inside of both quarters at the wheel lip opening and hopefully no other place is too thin and needs more.
I'm going to want to put in the wheel well shields shown below soon. Can I just use the vette panel adhesive/filler to glue them in or does anyone recommend something else?
I forgot the name of the adhesive that holds the body panels in place (the names are so similar to me, being a rookie). The filler/leveler that you and I use to smooth out our fiberglass work will crack when used to bond stuff..........been there
