Had a busy weekend with Mardi Gras and (mostly) knocking out the Honey Do list , but I managed to finish painting all my interior trim pieces black. They turned out great too:
Next up was to pull the drivers side seat out, carpet, and dash out:
Now it was time to paint/dye the last of the Oyster colored parts, and make this dash match the rest of the car
I'm super happy with the way everything is coming out, and can't wait to get my new seat covers and carpet in this week so I can get this car back together with a fresh interior! (and an awkward blend of 71 & 80 interior parts for now lol)
Couldn't wait to get that fresh black dash in tonight, and see what it looks like! It's coming together nicely, hopefully I can get the tachometer working, as it's getting power/ground just not tach feed, which is easy enough to fix. Discovered with the dash out that when they put this 1980 interior in it, they went all out and put the 1980 dash harness in it too. It just keeps getting harder to go back to stock lol At least when they hacked up the car, they did it professionally! lol Going to run the 1980 dash for a while until I collect all the parts, as the list continues to grow as I dissect the car.
[QUOTE=More Louisiana C3 owners, this is awesome![/QUOTE]
And another one. Making plans to be at the St Jude show next month. Hope you guys can make it over.
4/9 in Plaquemine at the park. The local BRCC is hosting. Went a couple years back and they had a good turnout. All proceeds go to St Jude.
If your car is drivable, bring it anyway.

Baton Rouge Corvette Club (BRCC) is a very nice and super fun group of folks that put on a super nice show. They also raise an absolutely phenomenal amount of money for St Judes every year. Glad to hear it is being held this year; thought it got called off the last couple of years. Thanks! Will send in my registration today. If you can not bring a Corvette, go anyway to check out the rides as it is an open show plus supports a very worthy cause.
Hope to see everyone there!!
Join us for our next year's 24th Annual Open Car Show Saturday, April 9, 2022 Rain or Shine!
All proceeds go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

I didn't know about BRCC or this show! There's another show on 4/09 in BR that day , that I was discussing with my friends, but looks like I'll have to try and change plans if my CF friends are getting together!
I help put on a car meet every spring at Istrouma Brewing in St Gabriel. It's a really cool craft beer brewery on a farm , and we had a huge turn out of classic cars last year. Discussing dates with the owner, and will post them up once he confirms.
My carpet came in this evening, and I had date night planned with the Mrs, since I have to head to Lake Charles for work tomorrow . I simply told my wife, that I needed to cancel our night together so I could spend time with my baby and work on her carpet, she completely understood.... NOT! lol but I was able to get in the garage for an hour afterwards this evening to finish the dynamat installation and lay the carpet out to stretch it out before I lock it in and trim it. Looking more and more like a proper car:
I do not know if you realized it but 403 is the code for BLACK LEATHER which is the DELUXE interior, it has plush carpet not loop, also has the wood grain and carpet on the door panels and wood grain on the console trim plate.

I definitely didn't know that, thanks for the information!
Good news is I'm putting in black leather like 1971 seats in, bad news is the black carpet I ordered is loop carpet. I don't think it's worth the hassle to return the carpet, as I'm not killing myself to make this car 100% correct and perfect, as it's pretty far away from that currently. Unless y'all think I should return it before I put it in tomorrow? But I do want to slowly get it back to as close to correct 1971 as reasonably possible... I'm not against future resto-mod look since I already have flairs and just need some deep offset 18" wheels and side pipes.. oh time will tell where this car ends up!
Well today is the big day: Seat covers arrived yesterday evening from Willcox! I also have: new foams, new hardware, rebuild kits, and the suggested tools. As usual I watched YouTube videos, read threads, and every article I could find until I felt comfortable with the work - doesn't seem to bad. I'm about to get in the garage, and will not emerge until I have new seats in my Corvette! Wish me luck!
My ‘73 has the deluxe interior.
As part of my restomod project I’m swapping out everything in the interior with new.
I don’t care for the wood grain panels on the doors and console, so I’m going with the standard door panels and deleting the wood grain insert on the console.
I don’t know if you would be able to tell the difference between the loop and plush carpets unless they were sitting side by side.
I purchased the plush carpet for mine, just because plush sounds better than the loop.
Good luck and be patient installing the covers.
From what I’ve read here on the forum, getting the seat covers on is a big job and nerve racking.
Its usually an issue with the new foam.
Be careful and if you get frustrated take a break.
Well that was a long 12hr work day yesterday, but I'm ecstatic with the results! Reupholstering the seats isn't as hard as people make it out to be, and the Corvette America step by step video breaks it down very nicely. It is however a slow process. I experimented with some different methods , and tried the zip tie method - which is a serious time saver when you're doing those tiny metal clips on the seat back! I encourage anyone interested in doing this job to tackle it! Here's some pics, ad I haven't even hit the few wrinkles with a heat gun yet and the seats look wonderful. I decided to stick with the loop carpet because, I like the look better and it's already here! Carpet install was easy with the ACC kit: a little trimming and she fit the contours perfectly. I still have the trunk left to do though.
