My chassis is back together and ready to be married back to the body, but I have one last thing to consider: Do I wait and weld in a removable trans crossmember kit before I put them back together?
If I ever have to pull the trans, it would allow me to do it without pulling the engine. It would be unlikely I would have to and pulling the engine isn't the end of the world. What do those that have experience with this have to say about it? Will I be kicking myself for not doing it?
You may never have to pull the transmission, but how about a new clutch, or u joint?
Of course as soon as you don’t modify the cross member the first thing you’ll need to do is pull the trans.
It would be so much easier to modify it without the body on and I can’t imagine trying to weld right up next to the fiberglass with the body on.

This is my fear, you know there would only be an issue if I didn't install it! LOL
That's nice looking work! It's a shame I didn't do it before I got it powder coated, but I'll only have to touch up the crossmember. I guess I'm ordering the kit tonight so I don't regret not doing it in the future!
I had to weld the clutch bracket on my frame after I head it powder coated.
I freaked out when I sanded off the powder coat and welded on the bracket.
I primed the area, then tried several different brands and types of paint which would be a perfect match both in screen and color.
All blacks are not the same.
I found that VHT semi gloss engine enamel was absolutely perfect.
I applied 4 coats, then and hand buffed it.
After I finished, I couldn’t tell the difference between the powder coat and paint.
Don’t sweat it!

I'm looking forward to the activities changing and this new chapter in life. He's already has me wrapped around his little finger, can't wait for him to get a few years older so we can start playing with some real toys together! It's going to be a lot of fun!!
Congratulations on the new addition to the family!
