Stupid question:
Is it normal to dyno engines that are not supplied with carb or distributor?
Your dyno number can change a lot with different carb, advance etc.

Exactly digital pictures can be altered to easily. Been addicted to this thread for the past few days. Nice to know so many people are willing to help & lend their expertise.

You may want to consult an attourney at this point to make sure you've covered all your bases and to prepare for a potential lawsuit. Can't hurt to be prepared & no one but you needs to know.

Good luck - I hope everything works out in your favor

digital pictures are largely inadmissible in court. ( at least in accident investigation, i'd assume claims courts are similar.)

take some better shots of that piston, use the zoom, don't hold the camera that close..try to get a pic as crisp as possible... that way we can see if there is cross hatching, if there is a thrust edhe..

do you have vernier calipers? If so, do a crude bore measurement.

TT, where the hell were you when I was asking for break in advice?! Oh well, I did mash the throttle a few times during the first 500 miles, couldn't resist. But I never took it past 4.5K.

And lets make a compromise, baby it at least until you tune it and set the timing!

Thanks for the camera advice....going to try the zoom.

Also....here's the latest reply from the "warranty" man. They sure are being awful nice. I will say this, they have returned calls quickly, and have now answered all of my questions. Hopefully this will continue and be a painless transaction.

"Brian

That is the dyno sheet that we would have sent out with your BP3550CT.
Every BP3550CT is dyno tested and will either meet or exceed the specs on
the dyno sheet that I e-mailed you. No I do not have the specific results
of the sonic test on your engine. I would only know that it passed our
block inspection. When you send it back we can test it again and give you
the results. Please let us know when it is ready to be shipped back.

Thanks,

Mike Gana
Warranty Supervisor"

Thanks again guys, I think folks are getting sick of this thread (I know I am), so until I get the machine shop evaluation, or someone wants a direct question answered, I'm done with it until then. I hope we all learned something from this, as it has really educated me!! Nothing like experience, good or bad.

I will post updates and findings in this same post.

me w/e #. I do have to say that i wouldn't really want another one of their motors, as it seems too many problems with this one that most likely all lead to poor workmanship. I would like a refund. just my .02.

Me Five! This thread is better than anything on TV! We are all pullin for you. If they don't warranty this engine then what good is their warranty? I seriously doubt anyone would run a new engine hard untill it is fully broken in for at least 500 miles.

We all are learning alot from your unfortunate experience, keep us all updated and dont get discouraged. Take lots of photos, document everything you have found, keep a complete log on what they have asked you to do and report to them, times , dates, and reports from anyone you have to look at your engine. I had a bad experience with a repair shop years ago, I documented, photoed, logged everything, the judge was very impressed, the business was dead in the water!

They should honor their warranty and no business like any negative publicity, a post on several sites could be very bad for them...........and the squeaky wheel always gets oiled!
