Any chance you simply lost a washer or nut down the carb since there was a good chance you were running without an air cleaner?
I think it is very possible it got sucked in and popped into #6 fracturing the piston, then ejecting out the exhaust valve leaving a hole in the piston and damaging the wall.
Anythings possible....I'm just about ready to pull the motor. I'll check in the oil pan closely!!
Got the drivers side head pulled. Everything looks fine on this side!! You can see the cross hatching on the walls from the honing much better on this side. The other side was just dirty. I don't know how fresh it is however.
Hope to get the motor out tomorrow, and take it down to the machine shop on Monday. Do parts stores carry bore calipers? How much are they?
I had same thing happen to a 67 Pontiac xh block(366hp) was 60 over with forged pistons and jim butler cam, cause was a plug wire came loose at high rpm,was doin approx 130,developed slight miss(at time I didn't know wire was loose) next mornin' leavin' work car would not start module was shot replaced it,and everything started knockin'.Drained oil and changed it car ran good 'til crankcase filled with water, and steam found it's way out valve cover.Cause was cylinder loading with fuel and no ignition source. Then wire either sparked, or heat/comp caused misfire and cracked cylinder.Ran it 6 or seven x's changing oil between runs and never had foaming you had.Still tore engine down and rebuilt due to glycol/bearing damage.Massey's in Jackson was good about seven years ago don't know about now.Get my work done in Vicksburg at Jack Hill's place
When I first saw the Image I nearly fainted.
"God I hope nothing like that ever happens to my vette" went through my mind.
Have you ruled out Foul play ?
Do you have a Fuel cap lock on your gas tank ?
Could someone have put something into your fuel when you were sleeping at night ?
If you have it garaged, i guess that doesn't count.
Doubt anything in the tank would do that..to many small passages...filters,etc....once had weld bb's screw up my carb on a new 69 Roadrunner..warranty item for gas tank.......engine was just fine..
Rich
Why I say that is because, some pranksters once poured soap into a relative's fuel tank. What came out when they had the tank washed was not pretty. It was a Diesel Fiat.
Plus he had to get a lot of engine work done to repair the mess.
Damn it.. this tread is longer than the Lord or the rings trilogy... took me about 1 1/2 hrs just to get to the end.. think you should send this to steven speilg.. and get a seriouse drama made outa this for the big screen.. thank god i finished reading this cuz i got an f-ing mid term in 20 mins... good luck with that ... This has taken the better part of 2 hours to read I hope they do the right thing by you and replace the motor. I will not be buying any motor from blueprint... ever!!!
The carbon is easily cleaned out, the ridge reamer removes the "thrust" ridge, this is a ridge of "cast iron" that is a result of the rings actually pushing the metal forward and accumulating there...much like a snow shovel...kinda hard to explain.
Boy thats a new one. I always thought, and still do, that the cast iron ridge is a result of the rings wearing away the cylinder wall, and is where the rings stop at TDC.

why not both? with the heat of combustion i would think you would have metal movement much like stretching
WOW i think this thread is going for a record and i am also marking my spot. please keep us updated on findings and good luck man i will say my prayers for you every night till you get it resolved and fixed. i hope the company does the right thing and either replaces the engine with a new one with all the paperwork and documents like a REAL dyno sheet or gives you a full refund.
