Oh....I forgot this tidbit from my conversation with the Product Manager. I asked him why my motor was shipped from Mo. and a company called Goodman Auto Service??? He responded with something about a paperwork mix up and my motor went one way and was mixed up with another customers.

Uhhh.....possible, but it sounds like a sub out job. I told him I ordered my motor direct from blueprint, and not a second source reseller. "Just a paperwork mix up".

So far:

1)Missrepresented bore on the motor. They advertise a 355 which is known throughout the industry as a .030 bore over. Mine is a .040 to .044 bore over depending on which cylinder you look at.

2)Missrepresented dyno sheet information. (Though that's catchy).

3) Missrepresented manufacturing location, or so it appears.

4) They would not supply me with any sonic testing verification of cylinder thickness as they advertise.

5) Fill in the blank.................

Let's say I order one of their engines go to install it, when I'm in the house getting a beverage my son decides it would be interesting to see what happens when he runs a Hot Wheel down an intake runner. When it's time to start my engine, said Hot Wheel causes havoc on my new crate engine. I'm not saying that's what happened here, but the company doesn't know that until they look at it. Everyone is protecting themselves, as they should.

It will be interesting to see if they put .030 over pistons in .040+ over bores and used .040 over rings. Speak with your inspector about this.
Also, I have never seen a set of pistons vary .004 . I wonder if the pistons match the bores.

Anyway a board mod can put this thread on disc for me? I tried to copy pages, but it wouldn't let me. This is my documentation, and don't want to loose it.

... but if you are left with no choice I'd say have it inspected pre install and make sure they know you will be having this done.

What is with this 6% failure rate? I don't think i would buy anything that had a industry standard 6% failure rate. I don't think any one could stay in business with that rate. Someone must be slinging the BS so that their rates sound good.

You can save the pages, just go to File -> Save Page as -> it will come up as: "showthread.php.html" change it to "Page 1.html" or whatever you want and save it in a folder. Now repeat "Page 2.html"..."Page 31.html"
for all the pages

You can also set your forum preferences to display 100 posts per page, that way you'll have 7 long pages to save rather than a hundred short ones.

Click "Quick Links" above then "Edit Options".

I found 50 posts a page is a good compromise. I almost hope they are reading this and are just ansy to get the motor back so they can shove a new one in the same truck and send it right back to you. Either that or put a big fat check in the mail.

If you sort by number of views, this thread has more than twice as many as the #2 in C3 Tech/Performance. The #2, incidentally, is Dep's solid axle ramblings. Where is Dep any way? Last I heard he was abducted by aliens.

Mr Kirk, it appears your subcontractor has seriously done some damage to your reputation, there are many people watching your next move, so far your company has acted in a timely and responsible fashion, especially by agreeing to the the third party inspection. Unfortuantely MsVetteMan has spent alot of his own time and effort in dealing with this situation. You need to resolve this situation in a manner that is open and above board. The choice should also be MsVetteMan as to if he wants a replacement engine or his money back. While we all want flawless products, most of us do understand that sometimes unfortunate things happen, However what we expect is for the company to step up to the plate make it right and to compensate the extra effort that is now required on our end. I did see the TV show where you engines were featured and they impressed me....now its up to your customer service department to impress me. Hoping you do the right thing, Bob
Very well put Bob. They should do whatever they can at this point to delight their customer, and go beyond his expectations. Anything short of this will leave many with a sour taste in their mouths. Can you say 30K+ views??? This would be very inexpensive advertising if you ask me. Mr Kirk, if you are out there here's your chance to grab the ball and score big.

This is something that DYNO TIME will eliminate or at least reduce considerably. 1 hour on the dyno to break in the cam and make sure everything is properly built, adjusted and tuned is a good insurance policy for the end user and the builder. With a 6% falure rate you would think a reputable engine builder would not let an engine be shipped without doing this for their sake. My build will definetly Be dynoed and tuned BEFORE the install. Don,t want to pull it back out. If they send a replacement make sure this is done.

Okay guys....I'd like to put my 2 cents in here after reading this loooong post and consuming numerous beers over the past week while reading this.

Being a previous automotive repair shop owner and builder of numerous short track racing engines, defects in any automotive repair/manufacturing processes do occur. With this in mind, I'm extremely disappointed with the manufacturers steps to resolve this issue. In short, once the specific damage had been identified by removing the heads, they should have requested the complete assembly be shipped back to their facility for inspection. Putting MSVETTEMAN in the position of "gopher" for their QA department is disappointing. I have utilized another remanufacturer of engines for years with extreme success. On the rare occasions where the engine was defective (and yes...it does happen), the units were immediately shipped back to thier facility for evaluation and potential corrective actions to their manufacturing/QA processes.

Considering the steps they are putting this guy through just to get a replacement engine or refund are excessive, uneccessary and should result in some sort of "consideration" for him. Either monetary or product....his decision.

I realize the manufacturer is reading these posts by now. To the manufacturer.....Now it is time to stop requiring this guy to perform your duties and just close this case. How you do this will obviously impact your reputation and future sales. Your call....
