Thanks guys, and a special thanks to Jim for acting as "secretary" while I rotted away in the depths of the stinky, dark, and non friendly confines of my jail suite!!

Truck just left with the motor! It should be in Marshall's hands by Monday according to the driver!!

Just think, this could be a publicity stunt orchestrated by Marshall Engines!!! lol........JK............They can really win big here, or lose even bigger! We shall see.

Hey Hooker!! Yep Stan Acey also looked at the motor. He was one the stated that's exactly why we don't use KB pistons.

Sell that ride yet?

Hmmm... Decisions,decisions....safe bet might be letting Marshall give you what you ordered originally....resonably sure they would not want that to happen again..I would wait and see how this is handled at their end...you know the drill...
Peronally,I go by this:"once bitten...twice shy...."

", but then i looked and saw what really happend, sucks.. i agreed w/ u. that guy was a bit of a ***** saying that to someone who just lost a dog, i accidentally killed one of my chihuhua's one day when i was comming home, little basted was to shot for me to see and he didnt hear the car comming(wasnt the vette), sun glare made it impossible to see directly infront of me and then boom.. snaped his neck.. but anyway,, sorry to get off subject..

Welcome back, I'll admit I was cracking up over how addicted we are to the information flow on this one. Behave and don't put us through that again...at least not until the end of this story.

I'd thank Blueprint for there time, and either get a refund or a partial refund and an unassembled engine.........

I would not accept a unit that they screwed together under any circumstances........

lol.......I will always have something entertaining happening to me!! I have no luck! Go back and find my post thread and my throttle sticking last year and me breaking a 1/2 shaft!! Thought I was toast on that one!!

This thread may never end?? Imagine a happy ending, and it will probably disappear quickly. Now imagine if I get screwed..........I could see this thread topping over 300,000 view and a few thousand posts! Hopefully this will be resolved rather quickly. Of course everybody will be wanting to know if I'm unlucky enough to have two blow up???? The new install will be interesting whether a blueprint, or local.

I would really like the 383 upgrade! (hint:blueprint engines)

why not ask them to break in what ever engine they send you....this way you don't have to worry about the wiping a lobe on the cam.

I may not even be messing with them.........If they don't at least offer me an upgrade to a 383 for the time I have spent. Not that much money difference, especially to them.

If they don't, refund only. I checked my original block and it's unmolested and never bored. Looks like it may have been honed out, and appears to be in great shap. I'll build local if they don't satisfy me, or they deny my claim.

It sounds like you have access to people who know what they're doing. You'll certainly have to spend more, but you will know exactly what you're getting.

WTF.........the bastages are getting defensive now......see email and reply below.....

Me:
And.........the motor was actually a 357 not a 355 as advertised. The bore
was 40 over instead of 30 over. Gaps and clearance had a little slop in
them, but not much.

Gap was .028 on most, and should have been .0268, and clearance was .003,
which is slighty over the recommended clearance from KB.

Them (product manager):

Our BP3550CT is remanufactured with a .040 over bore. I checked through our
literature on it and could not find anything stating it should have a .030
over bore. If you have information from Marsahll Engine's saying it should
have a .030 over bore I would like to see it so that I could get the
information corrected.

Thanks,

Mike Gana

Then my reply again:
The link below says base 355 Vortec. A 355 in the industry (at least down
this way) is known as .030 over bore. A 357 is typically a .040 over bore.
I could find no reference to a .040 over bore, so one would reasonably
assume that your 355 was indeed a .030 over bore.

Just pointing it out. I wanted to make sure you knew that what I received
was a .040 bore in case that was a mistake.

Anyway, it's misleading and confusing as well as your dyno statement.

Brian

hate to say it but it usually turns out that as soon as a company get a product back after putting on a front and being nice they ususally turn around and try to make it seem like your fault and get defensive. if they dont make this right i can tell you one person that will scratch their name off the list as a place to order an engine from.

As far as I understand it, your calculations are correct. A .030 over bore makes it a 355.

Wait a second....maybe they put in a shorter stroke crank to compensate for the extra 2 c.i. the .040 over bore would create.

screw me once shame on you screw me twice shame on me. as soon as i feel like im being jerked around i stop doing business with that company just like on monday when i called scat and they tried jerking me around again. no matter how much i want something if i feel i am being jerked around i will cancel or refuse shipment of something and find a replacement with their competator sorry but my time is worth more than theirs and if i get jerked around i expect to be compensated for it and you better not tell me that the compensation is gonna be an overnight delivery cause that is BS and i will just laugh at you if that is the only thing that i am gonna get out something like that. i could see a 383 being totally reasonable and not asking for to much sense you had to go through all this. you should be out driving and enjoying your car and spending that time fixing other problems other than a so called new engine.

They think you're picking nits. Personally, I wouldn't worry too much about that either. 30 over or 40 over, if built correctly you wouldn't have noticed the difference. You should worry about getting a new motor or your money.
