Thank brother! That intake was in pretty bad shape so I sanded it down as good as I could and used 500* Duplicolor engine enamel on it. 3 coats of silver and 3 coats of clear. I hope it holds up. I am not sure how hot the intake actually gets.

yeah my aluminum intake looked like crap too, I cleaned it up best as I could and painted it with aluminum POR header paint it's holding up great but I don't think it looks as good as yours does.

You've got a lot more patients then I do!!! I don't plan to keep this intake on, it's just a plain jane performer intake so when I can I'm going to put on a descent intake along wtih cam and aluminum heads. Keep up the good work, it's gonna pay off for you

Mine in the picture is a Performer too. My brother loved the brass freeze plugs and wants me to do an anodized look on the intake with the Duplicolor Metalcast paint.

Personally I wouldn't paint it to try and get the anodized look, you can have it bead blasted and do a real anodize, that would look great

I thought since some of you might not have seen the project I would post some pix! I bought this off a forum member and had it shipped from SanFran CA to Oklahoma.

Thx Hugie! I am going to try and get the pushrods ordered tomorrow. I just cleaned up and crawled under to look at this whole transmission swap. Scared the crap out of me and I crawled back out! Hahaha I have a transmission jack but it intimidated me pretty good. My original goal was to have it running by Feb so we aren't far off track I hope.

Ok! I have decided to wait to do the transmission swap. I think there is a little more to it than I want to tackle at this point and my wife may need a break from the spending for a minute. I can also take it to the shop and do it on a lift if I wait and gather the parts also I hate to throw another unknown it the mix until I get the engine running and tuned. I am going to try and get the pushrods ordered and in ASAP. If I work really hard in the evenings this week, I could in theory have this thing back in by next weekend.

If your pretty sure your gonna change trannys, now is really the time to do it. I had to change out my tranny after I did my engine(not knowing my problem was the tranny, when I thought it was the torque converter) and it was quite a bit more work. not a lot of bolts, but kind of a hassle to get to.

I am going to talk to my buddy at the shop tomorrow. It sounds like a few extra bucks to do than I thought and I am sure I will need help with it figuring out exactly what I need. Just cold feet right now. And it looks like it will require some cutting and welding on the crossmember. Of course the engine rebuild looked just as daunting when I started the process.

thing is, its not like your ready to fire it up tomorrow, you still have to wait for your rods. may as well tackle the tranny during this waiting time. if you wait till down the road, your gonna be saying, "I wish I did this while the motor was out". guarantee it. what about your boss that helped you with engine removal helping you with tranny?

I am going to talk to them tomorrow, I know the driveshaft has to be cut down but not sure what all other parts are needed. I was also reading the 350 has three different size tail shafts and and and. Ha! I am still just unclear on what all needs to be bought and what needs to happen to get it there.

The tenant in it had now problems when I started this process. Yes it is a 350.
