So will the wires move with the cap or do they all move to a different location on the cap?

Wires move with the cap...just move the rotor one or (probably) two teeth counterclockwise. You'll probably have to get the tool out and move the oil pump drive an equal amount to get the dissy to drop...

hmmmm.... "trying." he has a Corvette with a ~400 hp motor, I think the word trying should be changed to "inevitably"

If that's the stock 2 into 1 into 2 mufflers that thing sounds NASTY (good)
I think you're gonna be impressed when you hit that loud pedal!!!
Great job!
Don't forget to keep notes on where you set the timing and try different settings. Make comments in you notes about start up, pinging, engine temp and of coarse the Butt Dyno!!!
I wouldn't mess with the carb to much except for idle and if your eyes are watering at a light from the fumes. It should be pretty close out of the box for now. Then when everything is timed and running good you can have someone help you play with the carb. It gets confusing real fast if you never messed with one before.

That is the set up!! Yeah I just dumped the oil and replaced. The passenger side headers are still glowing under a load. Gotta figure that out before I drive it.

Wow! I just now eased it around the block! Headlights on, breakes bled and working. I had to go really slow because the home made exhaust drags really easy but I am stoked!!' Oh! For se reason the Tach isn't working the wire to the dissy is connected also the alt (brand new) is not charging good and the Gen light is on. It is also connected correctly. Any thoughts guys?

Is that 16* with the vacuum advance connected or without?

Alternator didn't look good with your broken wires. You may need a good schematic (wiring chart) to see what goes where.

All these problems are easy fixes its just gonna take some tinkering and trial & error
