That looks like it. Somebody should chime in. If not, there should be a list that decodes it on the Internet.
Like this. http://http://home.comcast.net/~jmasperi/vetrears.htm
The date coding will take more research.

Is it possible to restore front grills with chrome on the edge or do people just paint them?

It's raised.
It will b a letter, then 1 or 2 numbers, then one number.
B 24 3 for example or B 5 3

If I can make out the code, it seems
D = April
18 = date
3 = 1973
Someone can correct if I am wrong.

So the casting date would be April and the date it was ready for the car would be May? That would make sense and would seem to be original since the trim tag shows May as the build month and the TTop bags are stamped May 22 1973.

Pulled the tank tonight and this is all that is left of the tank sticker. Is there any way possible to salvage what's left?
