The Force Awakens...
Getting ready for the drop.
Scooting the frame out so the winches can be mounted.
Murphy’s law. Of course one of the winches failed. A bent power spade. A very minor issue.
Wheeling over the frame.
Closer still
New body mounts are ready.
Another.
Another.
With a little help from my friends.
:o)
Boom! It was relatively straightforward with everything lining up better than I expected.
And to conclude.
BBQ time.
Me in the back there with the Detroit cap.
That was my first thought.
Car gets a bath for first time in a year.
One thing I’m particularly chuffed about is that the TKX shift lever is exactly where it is supposed to be. I must have welded the spare crossmember in exactly the right location. The funny bit was, I woke up at 0300 suddenly wondering if it was in right place. I hadn’t checked yet. I was already thinking about how I was going to fix if it was off - and I was quite sure it was off. All for nothing. This looks perfect.
Over the few years I have owned this car, I have put quite a few chips in the paint. it’s amazing how delicate fiberglass is. Likely quite soon I’ll have to bring her in to the body shop as well for either a full respray and touch ups. I hope this chips can simply be touched up.
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
My supervisory board: kitten and puppy.
Radiator installed with new brackets. Much netter than what I had before.
Possibly junk. We shall see. The built-in voltmeter that is. I am sure the Optima battery is fine.
ECU and CD box will go to side posts.
New harness. It was expensive, but the right thing to do.
Horn Relay wired up. The key switch needs to be fixed.
Instructions...
A bracket came supplied and keeps wires away from exhaust manifold. Nice to see that restored.
The old zip-tie trick.
Had the boot for years. For some reason never got around to installing until now.
Trying to moderate the already sunburnt neck.
Mason jar acting as a personal ice-bucket.
A totally crispy neck...

Small update. I installed this Ctek trickle charger on the wall. I’m tired of disconnecting the battery every I park the car. I’d much rather have a wire under the seat to connect.
I want one of these.
A vacuum pump.
Testing how well it holds vacuum. It leaks down quite quickly.
Then we pumped smoke into it.
Smoke leaking from at least three places.

A little thing. I never trusted the green crusty one that was on there.
Moved the hydraulic clutch reservoir to a more accessible location. Before it was behind the brake booster and tremendously difficult to check and fill.
Looking fairly tidy.
Been waiting a long while to do this.
It fit perfectly. I would have preferred a bit more matte and a more embossed.
PCV reinstalled. Thankfully, I had an NPT hose barb that fit. And yes, you are seeing a repair to the speedo cable. I don’t know if this will work. I rolled over it while pushing the car back into the garage. A stupid mistake. It separated the sheath. I bought some steel tubing and after greasing, reassembled.

Welcome to your new home. A 2008, Porsche Boxster.
I had been looking at getting one of these for a few years now. An opportunity presented itself a couple of weeks ago and I took a train to Hannover and drove it back.
It looks quite clean and was well priced.
So, assessment: The 250-mile drive home as uneventful in a good way.
Once home, the radio stopped working (no longer could be turned on) after I disconnected the battery and put it on a trickle charge. So did the stability management system. Apparently to reset the latter, all you have to do is drive it a few miles. That being said the head unit is obsolete with only a CD player and a radio - no Bluetooth. So I’ll be replacing it anyway.
The bass speakers don’t work. I presume paper cones are torn.
The power lock works… but not the mechanical key. So, if the battery runs flat, I will be locked out unless this is soon fixed.
Other than that, the shifter (manual) seems to have a little too much slop to my taste.

It should be a fun drive.
I’ve always like the Boxster.
I’ve been thinking about building a Jeep for a daily driver and off road toy.
I came across a one owner 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport with a 4.0L, manual transmission, ac for Kristine, and 172.000 miles.
I wasn’t in the market but, the owner and I were talking when he mentioned he was thinking about selling his Jeep, because he hadn’t registered it for a couple of years.
He threw out a price that I couldn’t believe or pass up.
When I went to pick it up he said he thought it had a head gasket leak and knocked even more money off the price.
I ended up having to replace the cracked head, buy a new radiator, water pump and a few other things.
It has no rust, never crashed, no off road use, it was well maintained and I got a steal of a deal.

Good deal on Jeep. Pics of that ?

I did make some progress, however.
I acquired a new, empty, tool chest and work surface. Muuuuch more pleasant to work in my garage.
Seals around radiator are installed.
Fan installed. I expect it will be fine. I can’t imagine this will overheat - particularly in Belgium.
This makes things easier later on.
Fuse panel installed. Stacked on MSD.
Vacuum tank came in.
O2 sensor installed.
Retro hose clamps installed.
Ditto
New pads for pedals. Not convinced about the chrome trim.
Customs fitting spark plug wires.
