I would seriously consider a shroud for that radiator and fan.
Even in your weather, the shroud plays an important part of the cooling system.

Yes, I have made a mental note (and journal entry) of this to keep an eye on. I have read several good folks not running a shroud and Belgium being mild weather…

In any case, I installed an audio alert to be triggered by the ECU if ever temp goes over a set value, say 220.

I gotta find a more elegant way of fastening the siren.

And a 60-second job…

Turns into a significant delay…. Where did the battery to frame ground threads go ???

Insulating/sealing grease.

Audio alert triggered by ECU if temp goes over a set value. I’m kinda paranoid about these things. I need to figure out a more elegant way of fastening.

Plugged in…

New vacuum tank installed

Small update…

Just came back from a cruise around Adriatic, Ionian and Aegean Seas

Venice was amazing. It all was.

The convertible top transmission gear on the Boxster failed. Took me a few hours to fix that. $150 instead of $1,500 And I upgraded to a brass gear.

Thanks to a tip from this forum, a much better connection for temp sender

Very tidy

Labeling the wires

Beefy connectors for fan.

Mini grinders are super helpful.

Crawl under the car and here goes noting.

Welded a nut onto the frame.

And the milestone was, firing up the engine for the first time in about a year.

Lone wolf 3000, timing light and handheld for the Holley Sniper

Running !!!! Always an awesome feeling.

Looking good. Failure of tach. I think the bends were too tight (due to ignition shielding) for the cable. Need to verify it truly is broken.

So far so good.

Very pleased with this. Can always see the vacuum. And, if plumbed into headlights and. Wiper door, the vacuum fades quickly. This will be super helpful to locate the leaks

Capping headlights and wiper door, the vacuurm rises by four inches. Hmmmm.

Pushing the car back into the garage led to a major F-up. As my mechanic buddy once said… that’s a mistake you’ll never make again.

Some more progress this weekend. I’m in danger of having the car on the road next weekend.

Installing the steering column.

Searched all over for the nuts to the base of steering column and, 45 minutes later, I discover that it’s in the bag tag I first checked where it was supposed to be.

From here all the lights need to be connected

Hmm. I was looking all over for this. Turns out, it was sitting on a trailing arm

Booster installed.

This tool is absolutely worth every penny. Bleed your brakes perfectly… alone !!!

Dressed for business

Next weekend, basically clutch and seats and small odd jobs and we are ready for a test drive.

Soooo. As everyone here on this forum is used to: racing to get the car ready for Sunday.

Sunday there’s a Cars ‘n’ Coffee over here. And I have a bunch of things to get done.

I am taking Friday off and, with Saturday as well, I should have enough time to do all of the above. Installing the bumpers may be the bit that goes wonky and may eat up all my time.

Assuming the car is ready Saturday I’ll barely have the opportunity to test drive the car. Unsettling.

I give myself a 20% chance of having the car ready for Sunday and a 60% chance of crapping out on the way if I do.

I bought this set for $140

But I’m betting this will be a huge timesaver bleeding the clutch. Worth it if it does !

Stay tuned

The Corvette did not make it in time for the Cars ‘n’ Coffee. This was mostly because of a long list of neglected Honey-dos that needed attention.

Still, I snapped a few

V4.

Additional cooling

Windshield mod

This is a Sabra. Several of them there. Never heard of them before. Reminded me of a Ferrari. Turns out it’s made in Israel with Brit parts.

Front arms do not… trail.

Sure. Why not.

Dual fans. One mechanical. Other electric. Not the radiator cap and overflow brass tubing that dumps straight down.

Great tool. BTW, keep an eye on the reservoir. As well as this works, the remote reservoir can blow off spewing brake fluid all over the place. Ask me how I know.

Bleeding clutch.

E-brake wheel. Probably the first time it’s ever been cleaned.

Forty minute later I realized I still had a zip tie in my mouth. Exactly when I needed it. Handy.

Hot tip… never leave grease spray next to brake clean. Ask me how I know.

Knuckles busted.

Another milestone hood on and moving just backwards and forwards under own power.

Sooooo, sadly no pics this time around.

Installing the bumpers was a serious pain and they still needs more work. It’s better than it was, but there are still some issues. For the rear bracket to fit, I had to remove a lot of glopped fiberglass from a crappy repair. It is NOT fun to grind fiberglass on your back under a car… paying careful attention not to grind through.

It was a race against the clock to get the test drive done today.

Enough was completed, IMO, for a test drive of the car.

Of course when I tried to start it and Murphy’s Law… it idled like pure crap. It took me a while to figure out I was out of gas I had to make several trips to two gas stations because one was failing to read my bank card and I was losing daylight fast !!!

Finally it was dark and, accordingly, the test drive was super short. Only two miles. I never got out of third. But overall, success !!!

Three things. The hood is huge !! I forgot how long it was. The aluminum head, roller-cammed 400 is a torque monster !!! Easily burns rubber even in second. I’m so glad I have a car with good muscle again. Finally, it seems that I eliminated quite a few of the rattles.

So, yes. It was short… but amazing. last time I drove it was in the spring of 2023.

First impression of the TKX are very good.

More testing next weekend And maybe I’ll install the sill plates and the rocker panels
