I have a 1977 Vette that needs new bumper covers (front and rear). I really like the look of the 78-82 covers with the spoiler so I am going that direction. What are the pros and cons of using fiberglass or OEM flex covers? I like the idea of the fiberglass pieces, but not sure about installation and alignment. Anyone care to shed some light and offer recommendations would be appreciated.
Much, much light has already been shed on this topic.
if you want 80-82 style covers that fit a 77. Your looking at fibreglass.
Go to ACI. buy them. Take car to favourite auto body shop
spend thousands getting them fitted and painted. Done.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have researched this but seem to get slightly overwhelmed so I took the direct approach and asked the professionals. I do all work myself, no body shop will be involved, however I do not want to spend a thousand hours trying to make a fiberglass cover fit if the rubber ones are better managed. I don’t particularly like the wavy shape of the OEM covers but do prefer the straightness of the fiberglass covers, therefore looking for some help in deciding my approach.
If you want to DIY, @DUB posted these instructions for us before he passed. I agree that the 80-82 bumper is far superior. The Greenwood style bumper also looks good (ACI makes something similar).
That Greenwood spoiler is still made by Fiberglass Mike in Orlando (and on Facebook). A PO put it, or a similar repro bumper, on my 79, after cleaning off the mold seams, and filling the "Greenwood" lettering.

Thanks for this info and mentioning Fiberglass Mike in Orlando. I reached out to Mike and decided to go with his 69 Replica Front and Rear Bumper Kit. Essentially these bumper covers will convert my 77 to a 69 replica with all fiberglass parts. I pulled the trigger and ordered the kit….Im super excited!
Please post up photos of these as you progress. And of course finished photos.
Always a lot of interest on here about converting rubber bumper cars to chrome bumper cars.
