They're awfully close to first start. After that, getting the AC working will take some time & winter weather will be a factor when it comes time to pick it up.
I'm keeping my schedule as open as possible these days so I can collect it on minimal notice.
My brother lives a few hundred miles from the shop & I was hoping to visit him after collecting the vette both 'cause I want to see my brother and as a test drive within towing distance. The mountain pass between them may make that impossible, though.
There are a couple of routes home so a snow free transit should be possible.
following this one........great thread for sure..........
I have my 85 in great shape and went through a whole engine rebulding/6 speed conversion/3.73 gear rebuld Dana thing several years ago...at the time 400 chp (2002/3) was good enough to keep you competitive......not so much anymore.....
but more importantly, getting these dinosaurs dyno tuned at a local shop is nearly impossible (around my neck of the woods anyway) but...
everyone and their brother has the software for the LS series mills/electronics.....that is a big incentive to convert to the later technology for me........I am hoping to see the computer/ECM/PCM/ or whatever engine management system you utilize as much as the performance gains.....that is just as big of a story for me....especially since these early c4's do not utilize the ECM for guage functions (speedo/tach, etc.) as much as the later c4's rely on....
Prior to the holiday break they were overwhelmed with other shop work and still tinkering with the Dakota Digital adapter installation. I'll report when I hear more.
I hve to say you have way more patience than I do. this has been a forever project, I understand it was going to take awhile but your poor car has been off the road for over a year now. Poor Baby.........
i can say for sure I would not be able to wait that long...

Are they using the DD for the speedo, or other adapter? I just picked up a SGI-5 to drive both my ECMs with a speedo signal. The setup I thought was working (VSS -> LT1 ECM -> LS ECM) would stop reading after 60mph. I'm thinking it was on the bottom limit of attenuation trying to drive all the CCM, LS ECM, etc that after 60mph they were dropping pulses...
I believe it's one for the speedometer and a second for the tach.
He was looking for a place to put them in the dash but, last time we talked, had decided it would be better to have them accessable & was going to mount them in a box near/behind the brake booster.
He has worked on several other EROD swaps while working on mine & is learning a lot about that package.
I think the exhaust/CAT fitment and CA compliance are the tough parts of this swap, complicated by starting with an '87---the radiator configuration and shock towers are in the way.
There are some minor issues---exhaust leak due to wrong C5 manifold gasket, Dash not lighting up due to a ground wire (probably), wants to re-do the MAF location---but says it runs nicely, all the readings he checked were good.
He'll shoot some video when the exhaust leak is fixed.
