Id rather have my M12 tranny instead of the 6l80 even if it would fit in my Z06. The 6l80 is a heavy tranny and Manuals are more fun

and nice video

I just sold my 10 second street car, it was an automatic and was fun and consistant. Now that I got my Z06 I love having a manual.
Guess its all about "preference"

i spoke with gene@ fred beans about a month ago, not in stock told me to call back right about now. i will call early this week.
Drive a GOOD paddle shifter car like an auto Mini Cooper S, granted not the fastest thing but the trans is done right.
Without the paddle shift I wouldn't consider it.

Currently I am quite undecided if I am seriously interested in this upgrade. My C5 is totally stock (except for a Blackwing and a Magnaflow + X-pipe) and I am basically pleased with its performance. However, when shifting from 3rd to 4th (stock shift point at 5,800 rpm ~ 143mph) engine speed drops down to 4,050 rpm…collapse of acceleration
As one can see these kind of speed very regular (and totally legal) here, I basically have 2 choices:
- changing my differential (to 3.42:1) to displace this rpm-drop when shifting from 3rd to 4th to a lower speed (where the aerodynamic forces are a lot lower which should allow the car to pull stronger in 4th and bring it to the better rpm-range). A very nice secondary-effect would be that rpm at topspeed would approximately match the rpm of maximum horsepower.
- changing the transmission to one with a closer gearing, i.e. 6L80E
Cheers,
Johannes
this is were dale cherry will come in, without him and his connections(
) it just simply wouldnt happen...period

I was really looking forward to you doing this mod, so I could take notes, see your failings and then do it right...

Just kidding :bb :bb

getting the tranny will be the easiest part, installing will be the second easiest part. whats going to hardest is the unit that is going to made to control the tranny. and no, tci current tcu WILL NOT WORK.
if all goes right i should be the first w/6l80e
then they will market unit

EG the point to running 6l80e is this...the 80# in the tranny idenity
do you understand?
So - why not shoehorn the 4L80e into the C5 then?
Or put another way, what's the upper limit of the 4L60e in terms of torque? And here I am talking about a fully built tranny, not stock.
