If by "dated" do you mean it might bring $350,000 on Barrett-Jackson - I hope so! The cars that are selling for the most now appear to be the most "dated". Apparently the only reason most new cars are selling at all is because they now finance for 78 years.
Not in my opinion...
I own 5 Corvettes 1, C2 3, C3's and the C5 at this time
could write a check tomorrow for a C6 BUT honestly the C6 has not shown me ..or given me.. a solid reason to buy one... and replacing the C5 with a C6 would in my case be a waste of money...
IF my money was burning a hole in my pocket I would
looking for another C2 ...maybe the C7 will light my fire.
I dont think the c-5 is dated at all, when a car is dated people might look at it and know right off the bat that its an older car.It might still be nice but "old looking",not up to date. When most people ask me about my c-5 they think its a newer car they cant believe its a 2000 This is the first body style that actually made me go out and purchase a vette. I have loved the sleek looks since 97.I also like the c-6 if just for the extra power and a power top,but it doesnt make the c-5 look dated by any means.
I have 83,000 miles on my 99 FRC and everyone who sees it thinks in brand new. Puts a big on my face...........C6 wish it looked as good as mine......neighbor across the street has one and he is coyping everything I have on mine..........except mine is alot faster
I have a 2001, 41000miles and a couple weeks ago someone asked me is that the new vette, I smiled and said "yea it is, but i got it in 2001 ahead of everyone'. C5 like some members mentioned lets see what the C7 looks like....
If it well maintained, and kept in top shape,,, then NO it does not look outdated. The C5 is still one hot little ride. I think will stay on demand for many more years..
Never, we have a 2001 and non-vette owners ask us if it is new. The difference between the C4 and C5 is incredable. It will never be "dated". The ride and drive are fantastic, and lots of power!
I think the answer to both above and many more not mentioned is "no" not at all dated.
Sure they come out with newer things and newer cars, but wouldn't it be cool if they started making 69 Camaros or C3's again ??
I would love to have either one, so no, not dated, older perhaps, but not dated, the C5 will become a classic, a turning point in the history of Corvettes. The C6 is a great car, but it will not be able to be such a marker in the history of Corvettes.
Some of my favorite dated Corvettes include 61 with shot gun headlights, 63 Split Window Coupe, 67 Big Block Roadster, 69 ZL1 Coupe, 70 - 72 LT1 Convertible, 78 Pace Car, C4 ZR-1, etc. Bottom line... they all look as good today as the day they hit the pavement!
Maybe it's just me but I've always thought the C5's interior was very nice. Analog gauges, no key on column, easy to use controls, nice shape to the dash pad, grab bar, etc. Nothing really looks cheap or plastic-ish.
And as far as the back half of the C5 goes---looks fine to me. However for the absolute best looking vette from behind:
But I'm biased.

I still get people asking me if that's a new vette. They are shocked when I tell them its a 2002. Honestly, the vette is so sleek and aerodynamic, I don't think it will ever go out of style.
, With 20 lb of Zaino on your car, people are blinded to see what they are looking at
Personally, I don't think the C5 will ever look dated compared to a C6. They better do something a lot different to the C7 to make me want to buy a replacement for my C5 cause it sure isn't a C6!!!
I waited until I saw the C6 then bought my 2004 CE love that blue color . . . I do not want to see headlights on a Corvette at least not until before 1963
