Inevitably the C5 will become "dated", but it will take a long time. The C4 retained (and maybe still does) it's advanced look for many, many years......until inevitably times change and technology, as well as what the public expects a vehicle to look like, changes, which makes even the most appealing car become "dated" eventually.
I think that the C6 has not had the "wow" effect that some earlier "Vette models have had. It's going into its 3 year and I have still not "fallen" for its looks. But, it took a while for the C5 to grow on me too.
I have read that some people "complained" about the largeness of the C5.....but to me that makes it appealing. The C6 looks stunted, and that odd pointed look of the rear end just looks odd to me. My opinion may change after a while, and I may "warm" to the looks of the C6 but for right now the C5 has it for me.
My sentiments exactly. As a former C4 owner, it too some time for me to upgrade to the C5, mostly because of the advances in technology. I still love the looks of the C4 and now, the C5. Don't think it will ever go out of style. Now, 3 years into the new model, I am just now again considering a C6 - again for the improvements in technology. IMHO, the C6's flowing lines make it a more beautiful car.
Considering Gm stole the lines from the RX7. It's alittle dated
This gen RX-7 came out in '92, correct? Would some corvette historian inform us when the C5 began developement? I've always thought the RX-7 looks more like the first gen Viper than the C5. Do you really think the GM designers saw the RX-7 and siad, "we want the new corvette to look just like this. Let's copy it's lines." They were developed in the same era and therefor share styling elements. GM did not copy the RX-7. On a side note, I actually like the looks of that generation of RX-7 better than the C5. :o
I have always liked Corvettes since the day I started to notice cars..which I think was before I even noticed girls! That said and I know that I have tried I still cannot get used to the C6. Everytime I go to the Kerbecks site I think I am looking a lot filled with Mazda's or Mitsubishi's. I'll keep the C5.
Sorry, I will revise my statement: I like the look of the stock RX-7 better from some angles than the stock C5 coupe or vert. The FRC looks better and a modded C5 looks 1000X better than riced out RX-7. Is this accepable, or should a still expect the Spanish Enquisition?

All is my Brother Remember, we are all one BIG happy Corvette Family
To me the C5 most reminds me of the sleek lines of the XKE and I think that is the sexiest production car ever built. Of course you needed to have a live in mechanic if you wanted to drive very often, but I think that was the "car of my dreams" for more guys than anything else in it's day.
Ok , it must be that all 98 guys here the same thing
Haha +1 I sometimes tell people its a 2003 since it is so clean. Especially after adding chrome think spokes and oval chrome exhaust. (I don't tell it to vette guys since they would know).
I don't know if I feel the exterior looks are updated but the c6 interior sure is nice.
Personally, I don't think the C5 will ever look dated compared to a C6. They better do something a lot different to the C7 to make me want to buy a replacement for my C5 cause it sure isn't a C6!!!
IMHO bc the c5 is so wide and low and ALL CURVES and you get a more timeless design. the huge rear end, the longness, all lend to a more true exotic look than the shorter, narrower c6. Lower a c5 with some awesome rims and OMG the look is breathtaking.
