Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting....."holy ****...what a ride !!"
all you young guys out there - please don't buy into this thing about how great your golden years will be - sure if you get lucky & retire you might not have to drag out of bed in the AM and head to work - my feet hurt - my back hurt - i have half the hair i use to have - my ***** takes much more time off then he use to - even have to buy him a special pill to keep him happy - hair grows like wild fire in my ears - well thats about all i have to say about that - t
I'm 55 and still get up to go to work. Yes my back hurts and I can't do things as quickly or easily as I used to but WTH, I'm enjoying all of the things that I worked my azz off for. The C5 is one of them. Enjoy the time that you have left

I know exactly how you feel. I sometimes hurt in places I didn't know you could hurt - and it is tough to get out of bed in the morning - no more of this jumping right up and starting the day.

PS one good thing - my insurance is only $234.00 for 6 mo's for my 02 - so i guess the above is all worth it
I retired in April and it's everything I expected and more. I'm 58 and have a few minor aches and pains, but nothing major. My goal is to never get out of shape or overweight. I exercise every day and try to eat as healthy as possible. The only negative thing that I have to say about retirement is that I forget what day of the week it is.
Well I decided very early that I didn't want to have kids of my own. I saw what my folk's children did to them , and I didn't want that happening to me. So I invested my money and retired at 40 yrs old to pursue my hobbies.
At 46 y/o I got diagnoised with Non Hogkins Lymphoma, but thats been ten years ago now so I'm declared cured. But last year I was diagnoised with diabetes, high blood pressure , high colesterol, and the 'ole pencil isn't as sharp as it used to be (thanks God for pills).
I don't take life for granted as I travel a good deal in the 40' motorcoach and live the rest of the time in the Oregon forest. Great place to drive his and hers C5s.
I owe it all to my dad who showed me how to plan for retirement when I was very young and told me to let my money work for me. And to all the young guys and gals here on the forum please do the same because time flys bye so fast.
I'm a little bit puzzled here, I'm listening to you guys and wondering just how old do you have to be to be old? I'll be 67 in a couple of weeks, I'm still working every day, driving my C-5 and enjoying life. Everything works pretty much like it should, I have a few aches and pains, but nothing serious, I must be one of the lucky ones.
Age is just a state of mind guys, you are only as old as you feel. The biggest problem I've found so far is trying to deal with this 21 year old mind I have trapped in this 67 year old body.
