anybody even try to add a led strip somewhere up high to help out with in cabin lighting??I was thinking maybe somewhere high behind the windsheild out of sight or maybe stuck to the rear hatch....i find the interior doesnt have very much light even with led festoons in the mirror and led strips in the tunnels...Any ideas??
A black LED strip on the forward section of the .... (what the heck is it called? Halo... Rollbar thingy??? ) would probably work well. I think this is a job for mcgiles!!!!!! Black LED strip as in the housing NOT the LED color...
I plan on DIYing a partion and adding a "dome light" to it but personally my interior is pretty bright. Red... but bright. I'm also going to add a switched White LED strip to the underside of the center console lid, why on earth GM didn't put a light in ther eis beyond me!

"B-Pillar" I think, is the name of the body panel loop that is behind the roof and that the rear hatch hinges on in a coupe.
I used a micro switch and a section of the verticle LED's I used for my PRNDL mod in my center console inside a piece of square clear plastic (from McMaster-Carr I had extra) and tapped into the fuel hatch release switch for power. I'm still playing with the best location so it's stuck on with doublesided tape right now...
I'll post some pics of it when I get back from New Mexico...
If you want to eliminate some hot spots these leds create you can "flatten the tops". The neo wedge leds I have gotten from oznium are already flat on top. I dont remember a light wave behind the volume **** so I'm not sure what you mean there. I did remove the blue film in my radio to make it brighter. Worked great!
Seperate the foam from the blue plastic sheet and reinstall to keep the buttons from rattling.
I use a 3 smt strip behind the volume scv area to cover it better.
I also used a longer strip behind the equilizer.
You can use the same trick in the hvac behind the passenger word.
There are a few other tricks that I"m sure other people will chip in with. Where is that old interior led mod thread!!
I am working on my radio, I cannot tell from the posted pics if you guys are using sanded or nonsanded leds?
Also, If I want to add additional LEDs to the left of the volume ****, do I need to remove the stock light spreader?
Yes you can certainly remove the wave guide for the SCV area and add more LEDs. I wrap the wave guides in foil duct tape to keep the light form the LEDs in there and bouncing around, it works very well except when doing Blue the Orange "Pwr" window doesn't light up... it must filter the Blue light.
I grind the tops of my LEDs against a Dremel reinforced cutting wheel and leave all the scratches on it. Quick and easy.
It looks like it is still locked. I will email you the link that I have.

Thanx Gary, that one didn't work for some reason. DustinWinkle sent me a link also that does seem to work and I've forwarded it to savewave. Hopefully it'll be up again soon.
Tom and whoever cares. Here's a pic showing the wave guides that I wrap in reflective foil duct tape (the metallic stuff). Also the location of the reflector disks to bounce the light back up into the white reflector plate...
Oh yeah, now I remember the light wave! I took mine out, thats why I didnt remember it!! If you look close the whole panel around the volume **** can be removed. Its got adhesive backing but if your carefull you can remove it without destroying it. I took it off to try and remove the film. No luck. that stuff is really on there. Darn..
Yeah the Fade, Bass ect and HVAC buttons (also the Dimmer icon to get technical) are the same way that's why I leave the Blue film in the Radio so everything is exactly the same...
I ended up leaving the light wave in the radio by the volume ****. I did not sand the LED and soldered it up off of the board and bent the LED leads so the the end of the LED points into the light wave. This gave me even light coverage through the SCV marks. This was easier than soldering on multiple LEDs. I will try to get some pics if anyone is interested.

Send me a couple of samples and I'll install some and post the pics in here... Any other colors and do you carry the smaller Wedge bases for the Dimmer/HUD as well or just the larger one that fits the rest of the switches?
