I didnt use any resistor's on my HVAC install. I replaced all bulbs with blue neo W type B's and two red neo W. type B's. The only thing i used a resistor on was my helper light in the rear view mirror. I ended up using 3 of them lol....Here ill post up some pics right now...

What color leds did you use in the HVAC?

As for the NEO Wedges, which site did you order from? The corvette specific ones don't specify if they are the type A or B and only have one type, which are they?

Edit: I see they are blue. They look much lighter in color than the lights next to your gauge cluster...

I used the new wedges type B from http://autolumination.com/74.htm. They are 2.99 a piece....

For the HVAC swap, can you simply swap out the bulbs for the NEO Wedges and call it a day or do you still need resistors and what not? What is OHM out the lighting circuit?

Thanks!
Neo wedge bulbs have internal resistors and if you remove them from the base can be directly installed on the HVAC board.

Ok thanks! With their bases, do they plug right into the other normal slots for the door buttons and such or do you have to remove them and put them in the stock bulb bases?

Finally, what is OHMing out?

the neo wedge will fit in most every slot for the door controls, and DIC buttons. I prefer to remove the bulb and solder them into place for a solid connection.

i think "ohming out" is a procedure in which you use a multi meter to measure the resistance of a circuit to calculate what resistor you need with a given LED.

Default neo wedge leds

The neo's dont need additional resistors. Just de-base them and solder them to the board. They have resistors built in. You can see them with a magnifing glass!!

I use a multi-meter set on Ohms and measure between the positive and negative leads of the LEDs. It should be infinite Ohms or an Open, no connectivity, if it's a short then somewhere on the board you have the positive and negative leads shorted together...

I think it turned out great! except for taking some pictures in my garage after install I've hardly seen them so far, haven't driven at night yet!
with the LED's hidden in between the two weather strips they are protected from damage and exessive water. the rubber gaskets also seal the light in completely when ever the doors are closed. living in VA you always have to be careful about things like that. if I Were to turn the dimmer up all the way to turn on the interior lights and floor lights while driving no need to worry about the light being visible from the outside. becaues it would probably result in a ticket...whether its legal or not.

here are some pics, looks awesome!

here is where the wires go inside. I used 18awg speaker wire because it was convenient to have the two conductors attached. I would have used smaller wire if I had it, 22awg would be plenty.

a close up of the light strips before being hooked up. they aren't very pretty to look at while off, so I only use this style in hidden locations.

and a few pictures of the final product

I'm a little late to respond, but that is absolutely gorgeous!

Okay, few more questions....

Autolumination sells the Neo Wedges for 2.99 or their newer 30% brighter for 3.50. Both type A or B.

Oznium states their Neo Wedges are a direct drop in for the corvette however people have noted they really don't fit well for 2.50. Are these the same Neo Wedges that autolumination sells for 2.99 or maybe less quality? Any idea if they've fixed their fitment issues? Also, what size are these that they offer, A or B? And do they offer the other as well?

What are you guy's thoughts on using NeoWedges in the Radio and HVAC vs 5mm LEDs with resistors? Thanks!

I bought the 2.99 ones from autoalum... I took them out of the their little base thingy and soldered them onto the hvac board. I used NO resistors. Its nice and bright, not too bright, but not to dim.... You will have to cut the ends about halfway than they already are.

I've used autoluminations and ozniums neo's both with good luck. I havent noticed any brightness difference. I havent tried the 30% brighter ones but probably will order some next time. It will get expensive quickly at $3.50 ea. I've only used the neo's inside the radios and hvacs I've done. Discreet leds and resistors will be much cheaper but will take more time to make and install. You will need to make room for the resistors. I use smt strips behind the passenger word on the hvacs and behind the scv area on the radios or wherever 1 led isnt enough light.

I dont thing oznium offers the type A neo's that fit in the HUD buttons. Autolumination does. I build my own leds for all the areas except the radio and hvac. You can remove ;the factory bulbs, debase them and make your own leds very cheap. Check this site out for how to do it. There is a much cleaner looking way to do it but I cant find the thread that I used.

YOur mirror will take the 212 festoon leds. I think the electrochromatic mirrors came out in 2001.

quick question. i see in the first post how the led was shaved flat to get rid of the "hot spot". with the shaving, could i shave down a type b neo wedge to fit in the dimmer/ hud spot? or will it not shave or cause a voltage issue? thanks

The C5 IPC is front lit by two UV Tubes, the only other light sources are the IDIOT lights...

The neo's I've gotten from Oznium are flat-topped so no shaving is needed. You can certainly use a neo for the page button. If you have a neo led that is domed you can shave it as long as you dont go too deep and damage the led.
